The most affordable Snapdragon 835 powered flagship smartphone appears to be coming to Malaysia real soon. The Xiaomi Mi 6, which was launched exactly a month ago has finally passed our local certification.

A new Xiaomi device was recently spotted under SIRIM’s database with the model number MCE16. This is confirmed to be the Mi 6 flagship device and it could be an indication that a local launch could be around the corner.

To recap on the device, the Mi 6 is a compact flagship smartphone with a 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that’s mated with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM across the range. You get a choice of either 64GB or 128GB of storage which isn’t expandable.

Over at the front, it gets a 5.15″ Full HD display while the back features a glossy 4-way 3D glass back. For taking pictures, Xiaomi is doubling up on its rear camera with a pair of 12MP cameras. The main 12MP f/1.8 camera takes normal shots with assistance from its 4-axis Optical Image Stabilisation while the secondary 12MP f/2.6 shooter does 2X Optical zoom. For selfies, it gets an 8MP front camera.

The Mi 6 lacks a headphone jack but a Type-C to 3.5mm adapter is provided in the box. Powering the device is a 3,350mAh battery that charges quickly via USB Type-C. For ease of unlocking, it also gets a snappy fingerprint sensor at the front that’s embedded underneath its front glass panel. The Mi 6 also gets stereo speakers that utilise both the earpiece and the bottom firing loudspeaker.

In China, the Mi 6 64GB version is going for 2,499CNY (about RM1,571) while the 128GB storage option is priced at 2,899CNY (RM1,822). It’s more affordable than its current Mi Note 2 128GB Global edition that’s priced at 3,499CNY (RM2,199) in China and it’s currently going for RM2,499 in Malaysia.

When mi 6 launching, complain Xiaomi will wait one year to launch in Malaysia.

When mi 6 comes to Malaysia early, complain no stock.

It's going to be a hit for flagship if the selling price around rm1699. Its rm 1600 cheaper than the s8 and rm800 cheaper than the P10… and same price with the 1gb ram iphone 6. Great job mr lui, save our hard earn money from buying overpriced phone.

Spec doesn’t mattet, its optimization so 1gb Ram run smooth than any Android flagship.

    Who is Mr Lui

Think it will be more expensive than RM1,699. My guess, min RM1999 for the base model and RM2,399 for the 128GB version

Mmmm, any model from XiaoMi above rm1000, no need to buy lah. Specs kaw2 also useless, need to change phone again after 1-2years.

True, my Mi4 (with apps life facebook, wechat without any games) seems to act like the proton cars now

Almost bought a Xiaomi, glad I chose Samsung

Xiaomi seem to be a victim of its own success. People are so obsess with flagship spec sub RM1K that Mi3 brought the first time around. We knew that it was a marketing trick to boost its image. Once its over, they began pricing their phone more appropriately and this backfire dramatically.

I think this phone wont be cheap when it went for sale in Malaysia. Im guessing 1799-1999. By the time they start selling, other flagship like G6 and S8 would probably dropped to less than RM2.5K (Just bought a S8 for RM2785).

How you can buy S8 so cheap?

Just in redmi pro 2 with super spec rmb 1199. If u dont mind buying imported set with mediatek processor though. Economy no good, spend wise to buy something valuable, not blindly buy expensive expired fruit.

go get a life la u cheapskate!
ur only fit to use knockoffs!

but my mi5 perform greatly. im playing asphalt8 without lag till now. mi6 could be much better.

mi is a failure. they tried to make top specs phone but with poor reliability and cheap price. mana tau oneplus did all that more successfully and reliable.

I'm not paying almost RM2k and it dosent come with a headphone jack!
