Xiaomi Mi 5 goes on sale in Malaysia this weekend at RM1,549

That was quick. After its short teaser on Facebook yesterday, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is going on sale in Malaysia starting this Saturday on 18 June. Instead of hitting the Mi online store, the latest flagship
will be sold in stores distributed by Thorus.

As expected, we will be getting the lower spec version that comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of UFS 2.0 Flash storage. The display is a 5.15″ Full HD unit while the Snapdragon 820 processor is clocked at 1.8GHz. For imaging, it gets a 16MP f/2.0 main camera that’s assisted by 4-axis OIS and a dual-tone LED flash. Over at the front, it gets a 4MP f/2.0 front shooter with a larger 2-micron pixel size.

Keeping the lights on is a 3,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge and it connects via USB Type-C. For the first time on a Mi device, the front gets a home button which also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner,. It also supports Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and dual-SIMs (Nano-SIM). The Xiaomi Mi 5 is priced officially at RM1,549 which the same price as the current Mi Note. This is currently the most affordable Snapdragon 820 flagship smartphone you can buy in Malaysia.
