U Mobile has also joined the 5.3″ tablet bandwagon by offering the Samsung Galaxy Note on contract from as low as RM1,549. This is the 4th telco in Malaysia shortly after Maxis started offering theirs last week. This gives you an alternative for getting the Galaxy Note on contract with lower monthly commitment on their U28, U58 and U88 postpaid plans.

The RM1,549 contract price is offered on U88 plan (RM88/month) which comes with 3GB of data with bundled calls and SMS. For those that want to commit slightly less, on U58 (RM58/month) it is offered at RM1749. If you want the cheapest plan, there’s U28 (RM28/month) where the Galaxy Note is going for RM1,949. The contract plans are tied to 24 months duration.
There’s no upfront payment for U28 but 1 month advance subscription is required for U58 while U88 requires 3 months advance subscription fee. For ease of ownership, U Mobile is also offering Easy Payment Plan where you can pay the device over 12 months installments.

The highly anticipated iPhone 4S was launched in Malaysia with the 3 big telcos offering iPhone 4S contract plans. While the plans offer all round bundles of text, sms and data, some people out there aren’t too keen with the contracted offers.
With Apple Online Store also offering the iPhone 4S outright from RM2199, consumers now have the freedom to choose other plans that suit their needs. It is also worth pointing out that the Apple Store is selling the 32GB and 64GB versions at a lower price compared to the listed RRP from the telcos.

Thanks SirProtos for the heads up!
And the hits just keep on coming for BlackBerry fans in Malaysia. Hot after an unbelievable launch in Indonesia, the Bold 9790 and the Curve 9380 will hit Malaysian stores next.
We don’t have a definitive date but judging by a media launch that’s scheduled to happen late next week, you can expect the two latest Blackberry devices to hit stores soon after that, possibly as early as next weekend.
We have the pricing, we know at least one telco will offer to go with the BlackBerry 9790 (you can expect Celcom to come on board as well) and we know roughly when the devices will hit the market. All that BlackBerry fans need to do now is decide on which one they’re going to get.
Those who are looking forward to the riot inducing BlackBerry 9790 and the Curve 9380 will be happy to note that IMCC has revealed the most likely confirmed pricing of the two devices.
When available in Malaysia, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 is likely to retail for RM1,488 while the full touchscreen Curve 9380 is expected to sell for RM1,166.
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 features a 1GHz single-core processor with 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (versus the Bold 9900 1.2Ghz processor with 768MB RAM and 8GB on board storage). You also get a micro SD card slot that support cards up to 32GB.
Other than that, the Bold 9790 features a smaller 2.45-inch capacitive touch screen compared to the 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen on the Bold 9900. The Bold 9790 has a lower resolution display as well, pushing 480×360 pixels with 246dpi versus the 640×480 screen on the Bold 9900 that pushes out 286dpi. Another notable difference is the camera. Both devices feature a 5MP camera but the Bold 9790 shoots videos in VGA resolution (640×480) while the Bold 9900 shoots 720p videos.
The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is the first touchscreen device in the Curve family. It features a 3.2-inch 480×360 display, a single-core 800Mhz processor and a 5MP camera that shoots 720p videos, and that’s pretty much it.
U Mobile has already revealed that it will be offering the Bold 9790 with a bundled plan. What’s left to be announced now are just the plans themselves. We’ll keep a lookout for that for you.
