Samsung’s mammoth Galaxy Note has shipped over a million units in 2 months. Not bad considering it hasn’t launch in US yet. According to Samsung, they have been getting strong demands in both Europe and Asia with countries like France, Germany Taiwan and Hong Kong showing a steady rise.
This also shows that the sheer 5.3″ size didn’t really put off consumers from wanting it. In Malaysia, the Galaxy Note is proven a hit just like its Samsung Galaxy S II sibling.
While the Galaxy Nexus is launching soon, Note users are expected to receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update as early as Q1 2012.
If you’re wanting to own a Galaxy Note for free, the Galaxy Note Angry Birds competition is still running until year end. There are 3 Malaysians on the Top 10 right now and the highest is on the #3 spot.

DiGi has revealed its Samsung Galaxy Note plans on their online store with bundling options on DG Smart Plan. Apart from choosing between Smart Plan 48 or 68, you do get an option of either 12 or 24 months contact as well.
DG Smart Plan 48 (12 months) – RM1,899
DG Smart Plan 48 (24 months) – RM1,749DG Smart Plan 68 (12 months) – RM1,799
DG Smart Plan 68 (24 months) – RM1,549
Do note there’s an upfront payment between RM50-RM500 depending on which contract you choose. In addition, there’s a 12 months rebate of RM10 if you take up 24 months contract on Smart Plan 68.
As comparison, Celcom offers the Galaxy Note from as low as RM1,368 with 18 months contract on Celcom Exec 250.
For more information, head over to DiGi’s online store. So if you are heading to the Galaxy Note launch roadshow, which telco would you get?
Thanks to @mrM4NA for updating us via twitter!
UPDATE: Celcom’s Samsung Galaxy Note plan detail is now live on their website.
The Samsung Galaxy Note will be on sale in Malaysia tomorrow with telco tie up on Celcom and DiGi. Sold at RM2,299 outright, those that want it cheaper would normally opt for a postpaid contract.
Finally Celcom’s bundling plans have been revealed and it is offered as low as RM1,368 with 18 months contract of Celcom Exec 250. There’s a shorter 12 month period and other lower commitment postpaid options as well. If you don’t intend to stay on contract for long, the Galaxy Note can be yours for RM1,818 on 12 months contact of Celcom Exec 50 with 1GB of data.
Looking at the highest plan option, Celcom is subsidising as much as RM931 for the device. This is RM30 more than their Samsung Galaxy S II bundling plan where they subsidised RM901.
Remember, the event is happening at Pavilion KL, Jusco Aeon Tebrau JB and Queensbay Mall Penang from 10AM onwards tomorrow.
So next question is how much is DiGi offering it? For the Samsung Galaxy S II, DiGi offered a RM700 subsidy. If it is the same for the Note, we could expect RM1,599 for 24 months contract on DG Smart Plan.
For those that want to get it outright, Samsung Facebook page has posted a list of participating Elite Partners that will carry the device.

As mentioned earlier, there will be 3 roadshows over the weekend at Pavilion KL, Queensbay Mall Penang & AEON Tebrau JB starting this Friday 11.11.11. There’s no signs of firesale right now but from The Star newspaper ad, they are giving out early bird goodies.

Look what we have here. A Samsung outlet has revealed the purported selling price of the Samsung Galaxy Note at RM2,299. This was spotted by a Lowyat.Net forummer Kampung2005 at 1 Utama where they are accepting pre-orders right now.
For RM2,299, this falls within our earlier estimates which is pretty close to Samsung Galaxy S II initial pricing of RM2,099. If you are planning to get the Samsung Galaxy Note without contract, this is one of your options.

The Samsung Galaxy Note. Is it a tablet or is it a phone?
With a screen that’s 5.3-inches — way bigger than any smartphone in the market today — the Galaxy Note is indeed an oddity but how does it compare with other devices? We size up the Galaxy Note with a few smartphones and tablets with screen sizes, from as small as 3.3-inch to as big as 10.1-inch, so that you can make the comparison.
Our take on the device? Well…the Galaxy Note is a bit of both actually. Yes, 5.3-inches for a phone is massive, there’s no two ways about that but because the Note is only 9.7mm thin it doesn’t feel bulky. It is actually very comfortable to hold. Of course the ladies might find it a bit too wide to grip but it doesn’t get unwieldy.
Having said that, as a phone we recommend that you use a headset with the Galaxy Note. We use the Note with a Bluetooth headset and for two reasons: 1) the Note gets a bit challenging to hold when we put it next to our face to hold 2) the large screen means that our grimy face will leave an epic screen smudge after every call and that’s annoying.
Also, you’ve been asking us if the Galaxy Note fits comfortably in a trouser pocket. For a standard sized pocket, yes it does and because the Note is so thin, it fits in quite comfortably too.
So head on to after the jump for a couple of videos and a bunch of pictures we have comparing the Galaxy Note with a bunch of tablets and smartphones. Enjoy.
Mark your calendars people the Samsung Galaxy Note will go on sale in Malaysia on November 11. In conjunction with the launch Samsung has planned a roadshow in KL, Penang and JB so those outside of KL will get a chance to try the device before they buy it.
Here are the locations of the roadshows:
Kuala Lumpur: Bukit Bintang Entrance, Pavilion
Penang: South Side, Queensbay Mall
Johor Bharu: AEON Tebrau
And that’s about it. That’s all we know for now. Pricing is still a big secret at the moment but expect it to be around the RM2,200 mark. Also don’t forget that an operator will offer subsidy pricing for the Note as well, so a Note for RM1,800 or RM1,500 is not out of the question.
Then there is the rumour that there will also be a fire sale happening. This is not confirmed at the moment but we won’t be surprised if it happens. Excited yes but not surprised.
So if you want to one of the first to get the Galaxy Note in Malaysia, November 11 is your day.
Here it is, just a simple unboxing video of the Samsung Galaxy Note. We’ve only clocked just a couple of days use on this device and already we’re liking it. Because the Note is only 9.7mm thin, the device looks sleek and is a pleasant to hold.
The extra screen real-estate is an enhancement and is totally appreciable when you’re surfing, reading, taking pictures and checking our Facebook or Twitter updates. Definitely something worth checking out when it becomes available in the market on November 11.
All everyone want to know now is how much is it going to cost and which operator will offer subsidised packages for the device.
Stay tuned for the latest. In the meantime, we size up the Galaxy Note with various tablets and smartphones. See how it compares here.
We finally got a Samsung Galaxy Note in our hands, ahead of next week’s launch. If you have any burning questions or things that you would like us to try out, please drop them in the comments below. We will try to answer all of them here.
Fire away!
Is it a tablet or is it a smartphone? Whatever it is, the Samsung Galaxy Note is creating quite a stir and a lot of anticipation. We have a feeling that many are wondering when the Galaxy Note will be launched in Malaysia and for how much.
While we don’t have confirmed information on that, we know that Jakarta will play host to the regional launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note on November 8 and we will be reporting on the event LIVE as it happens, so stay tuned for the latest.
Closer to home, we’re expecting the Galaxy Note to be available a little later after that.
