Samsung has officially announced its Galaxy Alpha, a new smart phone that’s focused on premium materials in an ultra-sleek form. While the Korean smart phone maker is known of introducing new features with the best in class components, they have trying hard to improve its perception of quality with its faux leather look on the Galaxy Note 3 and most recently they have tried out the soft touch perforated appearance on the Galaxy S5. With the Galaxy Alpha, this is their best shot with the use of metallic frame and it boast an incredibly slim side profile of just 6.7mm.
This is the thinnest Samsung Galaxy smart phone yet and it comes with the similar features that you’ll get on their high-end offering.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is set to be the Korean answer to Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6. This is a showcase that Samsung is capable of a smart phone using premium materials, a step up from its fake leather and textured plastic past. As seen on the earlier Galaxy Alpha leak, it looks more upmarket with its metallic frame which uniquely protrudes out at the corners.
The fresh images came from @culeaks and they have mentioned some details of its hardware. They added that the screen is a 4.7-incher that does HD 720p resolution and it runs on a Exynos Octa-Core processor (A15) with 2GB of RAM, 12MP camera and a 1,850mAh capacity battery. When placed side by side, the Galaxy Alpha is actually thinner than the iPhone 5/5S that’s 7.6mm thick but there’s a noticeable bulge around the camera which can add more to its overall thickness.
Would you be interested in a mid-tier smart phone with premium materials? Or you rather have the fastest and newest Galaxy Note 4 even if it won’t be as premium? Check out the rest of the images with side by side comparison with the iPhone after the break.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha which boasts premium materials is expected to be launched before its upcoming Galaxy Note 4. In the previous leaked photos, the Galaxy Alpha appears to have a glossy chrome-like metal surface while its removable back cover features a similar perforated design as their current Galaxy S5.
Now there’s a fresh batch of images from China and it looks ready for prime time. The metal frame has a matte finish and it appears to have a wide recessed area towards the middle of each side. This gives it a shape like an iPhone 5/5S with an Element Case on but with minimal protrusion at each corners. You’ll find a power button on the right while the volume rockets are located on the left. The unit shown this time is in white and also visible at the back is a heart rate sensor that’s placed vertically to the left of its main camera.
In terms of specs, the Galaxy Alpha is speculated to be having a 4.7-4.8″ HD 720p display, 12MP main camera, Exynos 5433 Octa-core processor and 32GB of storage which is non-expandable. The tentative announcement date is on 13th August which is next Wednesday. Head after the break for more images of the Galaxy Alpha.
Plasticky phones are normally frown upon and that’s why more manufacturers are turning to metal for their premium smart phone. We’ve seen HTC going for a metal-clad body construction and Sony using metallic frame all round for a solid feel. Samsung which has been trying to shed its plasticky outlook is about to release a metal smart phone of their own with the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha which is now said to be announced next Monday, 4th of August.
The device will use metallic frames at the sides instead of the usual chrome-plated plastic. In terms of design, it is unmistakeably Samsung with its usual rectangular home button and a perforated back cover which made its debut on the Galaxy S5. The screen is said to be confirmed with a 4.8″ HD 720p unit, which makes it a mid-spec smart phone. There’s 32GB on-board storage which is non-expandable while the back is seen to have heart rate sensor as well. You can view the detailed leak shots over here.
With the Galaxy Note 4 launching on the following month in September, the Galaxy Alpha is expected to be a mid-tier model that’s positioned between the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S5 mini. All that matters now is the price. It is going to be tricky as they can’t be pricing this the same as the Galaxy S5 and anything lower would mean that it will face off other affordable flagship models that are mostly from China.

Everybody has been talking about Samsung’s upcoming premium smart phone and we’ve heard various names like the Samsung Galaxy F and most recently Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Now a collection of photos have confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Alpha and it reveals a more upmarket build. This looks quite legit as both Sammobile and tinhte.vn had acquired photos of the same model.
Initially thought as a more premium Galaxy S5, the Galaxy Alpha appears to be having a smaller 4.7″ display which leads a possibility that this is a model positioned below its current Galaxy S5 hero product. As comparison, the Galaxy S5 mini is having a 4.5″ display that does HD 720p resolution.
The screen resolution is still unknown but it could doing either a HD 720p or a Full HD 1080p resolution. From the photos, the back also comes with a heart rate sensor which is placed vertically on the left side of the camera. It also uses the same perforated design but the dots are much more finer on this new model. Faster 4G LTE-A support is seen as well from its boot up sequence.
With Samsung Galaxy Note 4 launch around the corner, it is likely that this would be a mid-spec device as it doesn’t make sense to have 2 flagships launched around the same time. What do you guys think? Check out the rest of the photos after the break.
The premium Samsung Galaxy smart phone rumoured as the Galaxy F has been mentioned for several months now. Before dismissing such rumours, a new Korean news report has shed some light and claims it will be launched next month in August. Expected to be announced as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, it will be a premium aluminium device that will be launched in time to counter the iPhone 6.
They didn’t reveal any specs but if the iPhone 6 is the phone to beat, we would expect similar specs to its Galaxy S5 LTE-A model at the very least. Currently exclusive to South Korea, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A edition boast a 5.1″ Quad HD display and it runs on a much newer 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM. With the Galaxy Note 4 expected to be announced in September, it is surprising for Samsung to launch yet another flagship model just a month earlier.
Yesterday an alleged photo of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy F had appeared, revealing its thick metallic frame. Not to be outdone by the rest, @evleaks has just posted a new picture as shown above that’s more believable.
Unlike the first “live” photo which appears to be more squarish, the latest photo resembles closely with the earlier leaked press renders. The top and bottom portion are curved like a Nexus 4/Nexus 5 design as opposed to the current Galaxy S5/S5 LTE-A‘s boxy appearance.
So far there’s still no updates on its speculated specs which consists of a newer Snapdragon 801 processor and a slightly bigger display (5.2″ probably) that does Quad HD resolution. With more leaks emerging regularly these days, it shouldn’t take too long for Samsung to announce this new device.
Rumours of a premium Galaxy S5 speculated as the Galaxy F has just kept on coming. After its higher spec Galaxy S5 LTE-A was announced for South Korea, the rumour mill especially @evleaks are still churning out more purported press renders of the device.
The folks at GSMArena were tipped with a live picture as shown above which claims to be the new Galaxy F. The edges especially its chamfer looks quite thick and it doesn’t resemble closely with the so called press renders that we’ve seen earlier on. According to their source, the device is similar to the current Galaxy S5 with a removable plastic back cover. From the photo, the device doesn’t look that premium at all and it is too vague to tell if this is the real deal.
Perhaps the closest possibility is for Samsung to release an international version of its Galaxy S5 LTE-A model. Launched exclusively for South Korean operators, the LTE-A model comes with a 5.1″ Quad HD AMOLED display and a faster 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM. Lookinag the timing, it doesn’t appear feasible for Samsung to launch another flagship device now as its new Galaxy Note 4 phablet is due sometime in September/October period.

The rumours are not true, there will not be an upmarket version of the Galaxy S5 but there is an updated version. Samsung today lifted the covers off the Galaxy S5 LTE-A created specifically for the South Korea market. In addition to the faster connectivity (up to 255Mbps on LTE-A, almost three times faster then LTE), the new phone features a higher resolution display and a faster processor.
The 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display gets a pixel bump pushing a of 2560×1440 pixels and a pixel density of 576ppi (versus 1080p on the standard Galaxy S5) . The new screen also has better colour reproduction (Samsung claims the display covers 90% of the color gamut), faster response time, and better contrast ratio (0.01ms response time and 100,000:1 contrast ratio respectively).
The Galaxy S5 LTE-A is also the first smartphone in the world to come with the latest Snapdragon 805 processor. The processor has 4 cores running at 2.5GHz and is mated to 3GB of RAM.
Other than that, everything else about the Galaxy S5 LTE-A is unchanged from the original Galaxy S5 including the 16MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, heart rate and fingerprint sensor as well a dust and water resistant shell. The 2,800mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat is the same as well.
The Galaxy S5 LTE-A is available for South Korea only at the moment and it sells for 940,500 Won which is about RM2,970 — pricey.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime or also known as the Galaxy F series has been speculated for quite a while now. According to a fresh report, the upcoming device apparently is going to be called as Galaxy S5 LTE-A which is sold exclusively through SK Telecom on the 19th June.
Instead of the speculated 5.2″ display, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be having the same 5.1″ display size as the Galaxy S5 but pushes Quad HD instead of the standard Full HD resolution. If you look closely at the teaser image above, you can spot a very fine WQHD in the Super AMOLED logo which confirms the Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440. The report also added that it will be powered by a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 and it is likely to be mated with a more generous 3GB RAM as well.
So far there’s no word if such smart phone will be available outside of South Korea. In the past, we’ve seen 2 different speculations with one that looks like the Galaxy S5 with a perforated back and another version by @EVleaks which reveals a brushed metal back design. If the Galaxy Note 4 is taking too long to launch, Samsung might just release it internationally as a stop gap measure to counter competing smart phones with Quad HD displays.
