Finally, after months of beta trials, Samsung Pay is going official in Malaysia. This is a mobile payment service that allows you to make payments at card terminals using your Galaxy smartphone. Initially available only for Maybank VISA card holders, Malaysian Samsung Pay users will soon be able to cards issued from other banks and networks.
After seeing Maybank Pay and CIMB Pay, Samsung Pay is finally rolling out in Malaysia. It isn’t officially launched yet but Samsung has commenced Beta trials in partnership with Maybank. With Samsung Pay, you can make debit/credit card payments using your Galaxy smartphone.
Maybank has officially announced MaybankPay, a mobile wallet service that lets you pay using your smartphone. This allows you to make cashless payments by tapping your phone onto existing Visa PayWave terminals nationwide.
You’ve probably seen news floating around social media that Maybank is closing its services down for bank-wide maintenance over the weekend. Many are losing their minds about not being able to make transactions or withdraw money during this time and are probably already rushing to the bank to withdraw some right now.
The thing is, have you guys looked at the maintenance schedule? We have, and honestly, we don’t see it being that much of a problem.
Paying by cash is troublesome. You would need to keep a sufficient amount in your wallet and if you don’t have exact change, you’ll end up with bulky coins in your pocket. While Touch ‘n Go is gaining momentum in stores, here’s another way to pay without cash.
Maybank together with Visa has just announced the PayBand, the first payment wearable in Malaysia. According to Visa, Malaysians are moving towards contactless transactions and they are more likely to shop at a place that accepts one.

According to a survey conducted a while ago, most people would prefer to lose their wallet rather than their mobile phones. What if one day you left home without taking your wallet and it is too troublesome to return home to pick it up? Recently Maybank has introduced a rather simple but yet useful feature called Cardless Withdrawal.
Essentially this is a fund transfer service which lets you send urgent cash to anyone and they can pick it up from any Maybank ATM machine. Best of all, the recipient doesn’t need to be an account holder or use an ATM card to receive money. All they need is the Transaction ID & the 6 digit passcode. When it comes to emergency situations where you don’t have anything but your smart phone, this can be a potential life saver.
Read on to find out how it’s done.
