Maxis revises Value First to RM30 commitment plan

After DiGi introduced its entry level DG30 post paid plan, it had ruffled some feathers at Maxis. Initialy launched as a hybrid of access and commitment based post paid plan with 60 seconds billing block, they had now made some changes to be on par with DiGi’s DG30 offering.

Now for RM30 a month, you’ll get RM30 worth of calls and there’s no longer access fee required as before. Call rates still remain the same at 18sen/minute for on net and 20 sen / minute for off net. SMS too is still the same at 10 sen / SMS to all networks too.

Originally, Value First was charged at 60 seconds block which obviously isn’t much value if you make short calls. With DiGi’s DG30 being charged at 30 seconds block, it is obvious that Maxis too had to cut it down to 30 seconds block as well.

With this revision of Value First, Maxis now is on par with DiGi. What’s our take on this? If you make more calls to Maxis network, go for Maxis Value First as it offers 18 sen/minute for calls made within Maxis. Other than that, there isn’t much difference in terms of offering as off net calls and SMS are charged the same.
