Today, the 9th of January 2017, marks 10 years since Apple introduced the first iPhone ever — though the actual device was put up for sale on the 29th of June 2007. In a press release commemorating this momentous occasion, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the “best is yet to come”.
There aren’t many technological revolutions quite like Apple‘s original iPhone. It was so radical and revolutionary that it ushered on an entire generation of new devices that we now probably couldn’t live without.
That was almost a decade ago and Apple’s idea of the iPhone has changed over 10 different iterations. So, with the launch of the brand new iPhone 7, we thought we’d take a quick look back at one of the most storied smartphones in the world.

Before the iPhone 7 goes on sale globally this Friday, the latest iOS 10 is rolling out now to existing devices. This is their largest update yet with a new lock screen with quick camera launch, improved Force Touch functionality and revamped native apps.
Ah, the iPhone 7. Apple’s “best iPhone ever”. It is funny that they always say that because they’re realistically not going to make a worse iPhone right? At least they’re not going to say it’s worse than the older one even if it is.
Still, the iPhone 7 represented a lot of firsts for the tech giant. However, despite the launch of Apple’s most stunning iPhone ever, I honestly don’t think that it is the biggest (or indeed best) news from the launch.
Hear me out.
Right after the announcement of the iPhone 7, Apple has begun slashing prices for its current iPhone models in Malaysia. The base models for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are now RM500 cheaper and it comes with double the storage with a minimum of 32GB onboard.
Before Apple reveals the next iPhone, the Cupertino giant has announced its latest software update with iOS 10. According to Apple, this is the biggest update yet and we are running down the top 10 new changes that are coming to your iPhone.
Apple products are expensive to buy brand new. If you’ve always wanted a shiny Apple product, Machines is organising a warehouse clearance sales with lowered prices for iPod, iPhone, iPad, MacBook, Apple Watch and other accessories.
Huawei aims to reinvent smartphone photography by partnering with Leica. The P series is Huawei’s flagship line that focuses on a premium build as well as camera photography. On the latest Huawei P9, it gets a pair of cameras at the back that are co-engineered with the German optics company.
To have Leica branding on a smartphone is a respectable stamp of approval but how does it fare in actual usage? To find out, we’ve pitted the P9 against other top end contenders such as the iPhone 6s Plus, Microsoft Lumia 950 and the current champion, the Galaxy S7 edge.
Have you ever been annoyed at how
darn difficult it is to place emphasis in WhatsApp conversations? Well, now it’s going to be much easier because if you’re on an iPhone, the text messaging service will let you use text formatting in your conversations.
In the past, the cheapest iPhone you can buy is basically a rehash of an outdated model with a smaller storage option. We’ve seen this since the iPhone 3GS/iPhone 4 days. That’s no longer the case with the iPhone SE. It is Apple’s most affordable new iPhone and it’s just as powerful as their current flagship.
