Apple has finally revealed the long awaited iOS 4.2 which brings several new features especially multitasking for iPads. Some of notable features are AirPrint, AirPlay, ability to search within a page on Safari, customised message tone, multiple font support for notes and much more.

Also announced together with iOS 4.2 is that Find my Phone app is now free to use on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4th Gen and iPad users without the need for a MobileMe subscription. Just download it from the AppStore and you can now perform remote wipe and other various remote controls.

Apple has just released the iOS 4.2 beta 1 version for developers to poke and prod at but it will still be at least another month until iPad owners can download some of the good stuff that they’ve been missing out on – namely, multi-tasking and folders.

While the full version of iOS 4.2 will be released in November here’s a video overview of some of the new features coming to the iPad.

It’s nothing much, if anything its just an updated version of the recently released iOS 4.1 but 4.2 brings much welcomed enhancements to the iPad. The question is, why is Apple taking so long to release the 4.2 to iPad owners?

November is precariously close to the holiday season, and if the rumour mill is anything to go by, will the 4.2 release pave the way for a new iPad that’s slated for a holiday season release?

We don’t have the answer at the moment but you can be rest assured that we’ll keep a close eye on developments.

While the iPhones and iPod will be getting iOS 4.1 which promises numerous bug fixes and the addition of a few borderline useful features, iPad owners have been missing out on multi-tasking and folders for he longest time.

They can look forward to November when Apple will release the iOS 4.2 developed for the iPad. It brings folders and multi-tasking to the iconic table device plus a whole host of other nifty features like wireless printing and streaming.
