If you’re looking for a larger screen smart phone on contract below RM1000, here’s another alternative if you missed out on Samsung Galaxy S II RM799 offer. The HTC HD7, a 4.3″ Windows Phone 7 device is now offered as low as RM799 over 24 months contract or RM999 over 12 months contract on a Maxis Value Plus postpaid plan with bolt on 1.5GB or 3GB data plan. This is a big reduction of RM500 from its previous price as it was previously offered at RM1399 for 24 months contract.
Strangely, the HD7 is the most affordable offering from Maxis despite being more expensive than the HTC 7 Mozart and Samsung Omnia 7. For additional savings, Maxis WP7 bundle plans give back RM10 rebate on your monthly data plans during the contract period.
This just appeared on Maxis’s what’s new page but the price reduction had taken effect for quite some time now. Some guys at Lowyat Forum had noticed the changes on the Maxis Windows Phone 7 page last month.

Maxis is doing another round of festive promos on devices with more discounts on selected phones. This promo however is tied with a 24 months contract with either a 3GB data plan or BIS Pro plan that comes with 3GB.
So what’s interesting on the offer? The Nokia N8 is now RM788 (usual RM999 with 24 months contract) while the Motorola Defy is now offered at RM888 (usual: RM999). The HTC Desire Z also sees a reduction to RM1388 (usual: RM1449).
BlackBerries are reduced with a slight reduction on its older Curve 8520 and Bold 9700 but the Torch is further reduced to RM1288 from its previous 24 months contract price of RM1399.
On the Windows Phone 7 line up, the HTC 7 Mozart is now offered at a much lower RM1188 (usual RM1499) while the larger HTC HD7 is offered at RM1388 (usual RM1699).

To sweeten the deal for Samsung Galaxy Tab, Maxis is offering an outright price of RM1999 (original RRP: RM2699) with any purchase of a Value Plus Plan and data plan. As comparison, the Galaxy Tab is offered on contract at RM1749 over 24 months and RM1849 over 12 months.

After several days since the launch of the HTC HD7, Maxis’s website finally showed its bundled pricing. It is offered from RM1399 for 24 months and RM1699 for 12 months contract with a 1.5GB or 3.0GB data plan.
The plan & pricing was earlier revealed for pre-registered users last week. It is also worth mentioning that the bundled data plans are given a RM10/month rebate. We have received a tip that LG Optimus One and LG Optimus 7 is coming to Malaysia real soon, in fact sometime next week. The LG Optimus One is an Android device that runs on Froyo which recently sold over a million units in just 40 days. The other device is the LG Optimus 7 which runs on Windows Phone 7. Word has it that the devices will be exclusive on Celcom, which has been very quiet lately with non-Blackberry devices.
It was also mentioned that Celcom together with LG is trying to push the launch as early as possible in order to beat rival Maxis’s similar announcement on a HTC device. The HTC device in question is most likely the HTC HD7 which is undergoing ROI with Maxis.
We have to stress that this piece of information is not confirmed yet. If its true, it will be an exciting face off next week between 2 telcos and 2 Windows Phone 7 devices.
Special thanks to Panda for the heads up!

Maxis has started accept registration of interest for its first Windows Phone 7 bundling with the HTC HD7. The HTC HD7 is a 4.3″ touch screen device with 5.0MP camera assisted with dual flash which also does 720p HD video recording. This could probably be the first contract Windows Phone 7 offer, if there isn’t any new surprises from DiGi or Celcom.
As mentioned earlier, the RRP for the HTC HD7 is RM2399. No word on the pricing but we expect similar bundling like its Android line up whereby it is bundled with data plan for 12-24 months.
To register, head on to Maxis Windows Phone 7 page here. To get acquainted with the HD7, check out the introductory video of HTC’s Windows Phone 7 line up here.

Want the latest phone using the latest mobile platform? Then your best best is with Maxis.
The operator has just announce that it will offer the just released HTC HD7 running on Windows Phone 7.
The HTC HD7 is HTC’s media powerhouse device running on the new Windows Phone 7 platform. It packs a 4.3in screen with a 1GHz processor and 576MB of RAM. There’s 16GB worth of internal storage, oddly enough there’s no mention of microSD support.
The HD7 also has a 5MP camera that’s capable of recording video in 720p. As a media player phone, the HD7 can output sound in Dolby Mobile with SRS surround sound capabilities. As media phone, we don’t like that there’s no HDMI connectivity.
No world on pricing or availability but expect the HD7 to be priced along the same lines as the HTC Desire
