Buy 1 free 1 promo from DiGi. Get a BlackBerry for free with contract purchase

Posted:  April 14, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

To celebrate the opening of its Seberang Jaya and 1 Borneo retail centres DiGi is offering free BlackBerrys with purchase of a BlackBerry Bold 9700 or a HTC Aria.

Specifically if you purchase a BlackBerry Bold 9700 with a 24 months contract, you’ll get another 9700 for free. On the same offer, if you purchase a HTC Aria with a 24 months contract you’ll get a BlackBerry Curve 8520 for free.

The promo material is very vague about the offer but our DiGi source tells us that the promo is very limited to 13 customers for both outlets combined at each outlet with the following breakdown:

  • Free BlackBerry Bold 9700 limited to six customers at Seberang Jaya and seven customer at 1 Borneo in Sabah
  • Free BlackBerry Curve 8520 limited to five customers per outlet for both outlets.

HTC deals at PC Fair this weekend

Posted:  April 13, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

Get ready for massive around KL over the weekend, PC Fair is back! And as always you can expect some deals and promos from the many device manufacture and distributors in Malaysia.

HTC is no different putting out revised pricing for its range of devices and throwing in a free spa voucher worth RM1,390 as well as a 1+1 year warranty for all devices.

You’re looking at:
RM2,099 for HTC Desire HD
RM1,699 for HTC 7 Mozart
RM1,599 for HTC Desire
RM1,399 for HTC Aria and
RM999 for HTC Wildfire

In all honesty, the revised prices are not that great considering the vintage of these device and that LG Optimus 2X is just RM1,899 outright and our current Android favourite, the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc with its Exmor R 8.1MP camera and Bravia Engine 4.0 Reality Display is the same price as the Desire HD outright, but if you’ve always been a fan of these HTC devices that are on offer, PC Fair weekend would be a good time to hunt for a great bargain.

Looks like DiGi is on a HTC Aria disposing spree. Yesterday they had a HTC Aria a day contest that’s given out for lucky users that watch YouTube videos and now they kicked start another one involving MMS.

The MMS Contest appears to run on a weekly basis with “Pranks” as this week’s theme. To join, take a pic that fits the theme and MMS it to 22266. There will be a HTC Aria to give out each weekly round and 10 DiGi to DiGi MMS for every 50th participant.

More info on the contest at their Facebook page here.

DiGi offers a HTC Aria a day for contest with data intensive entries

Posted:  November 15, 2010   By: soyacincau   1 comment

DiGi is giving away an HTC Aria a day from now until 31st December 2010. To participate in the contest, you would either need to watch a YouTube of a day video from their mobile site or download Opera Mini which gives you an eligible entry. Obviously you won’t want to download Opera Mini daily and DiGi wants you to watch their select videos instead. To get started, SMS WEB to 2000 for the link to their mobile site. As consolation, every 50th participant will get Free 10 minutes of calls, 10 SMS and 10 MMS within DiGi network.

This contest is only eligible for Prepaid and Postpaid customers who are on Pay As You Go. Basically for those who are not on a monthly or weekly data plan which opens up a possibility of spending much more if you intend to go full on with this contest. For DiGi Prepaid, they have the MAX RM5/day limit for data while the newer Easy Prepaid users are capped at RM3/day. Postpaid users on PAYU will be costlier as there’s no daily limit and the only safety net is the RM149/month data cap.

Full details on DiGi’s website and do read the FAQ here.

HTC Gratia – Europe’s Aria with front camera and Froyo

Posted:  October 18, 2010   By: soyacincau   No comments

HTC has announced the HTC Gratia, destined for Europe from next month onwards. If you’re wondering isn’t that the HTC Aria? We don’t blame you as both are very identical in terms of design and hardware. The only difference is the VGA camera at the front.

Just like the Aria, the Gratia is powered with 600MHz processor together with 512MB of ROM and 384MB of RAM. You’ll also get the same 3.2″ HVGA screen at 320×480 resolution. However a pleasant inclusion is Android 2.2 Froyo which should offer better performance over its 2.1 running Aria sibling.

Three colours are available: white, black and green as shown above.

DiGi reduces price of HTC Aria to RM799

Posted:  October 1, 2010   By: soyacincau   No comments

DiGi has reduced its pricing of the HTC Aria to a much lower RM799. This of course comes with 24 months contract on DG Smart Plan. The price for 12 months contract however remains unchanged at RM1199.

Previously it was offered at RM999 which is the same as the HTC Legend. Now the pricing is more appropriate considering the HTC Legend offers a better AMOLED while the Aria doesn’t.

Meanwhile, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Curve 8520 promo price during roadshows seems to be parmanent now. On their website, the Bold is now shown as RM999 while the Curve 8520 at RM459, both on 24 months contract.

DiGi offers HTC Aria from RM999 on DG Smart Plan

DiGi has finally revealed the official bundle pricing for the HTC Aria. It costs RM1199 over 12 months or RM999 over 24 months contract with DG Smart Plan. This makes the Aria similarly priced with the earlier HTC Legend for 24 months.

As posted earlier, the HTC Aria is pretty identical with the Legend. Both runs on Android 2.1, powered by the same 600MHz processor, 512MB ROM and 384MB RAM. However the difference you’ll get is a screen, believed to be non-AMOLED (SLCD?) and a smaller 1200mAh battery as compared to the Legend’s AMOLED display and 1300mAH battery.

With the HTC Aria now available, we’re still waiting for DiGi to release the BlackBerry Curve 3G.

DiGi opens registration of interest for HTC Aria and BlackBerry Curve 9300

Posted:  September 7, 2010   By: ccsoya   4 comments

DiGi has just opened registration of interest for both the HTC Aria and BlackBerry Curve 9300.

We’re not sure why DiGi would want to do an ROI for the Curve 3G as Celcom has already started selling the device, so it’s not really a big deal. And as expected, no prices, plans or launch data has been revealed but you can expect things to get really interesting in the following weeks and months.

The HTC Aria is priced at RM1,799 outright, factor in a 12-month contract the Aria would probably cost RM1,299 thereabouts. Interestingly the highlights of the Aria includes 3.2in TFT display, that means AMOLED similar to the Legend is out of the question. Can we expect the Aria to come with Super LCD instead? We’ll keep you posted on findings.

Already, the iPhone 4 is expected to come to Malaysia towards the end of September and then we have the Nokia N8 slated for early October release, let’s not forget that Maxis has opened ROI for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and Curve 9300 along with the as well — it’s going to be a smartphone galore as we approach the final quarter of 2010.

Head to DiGi if you’re interested to register for the HTC Aria or BlackBerry Curve 3G.

HTC Aria introduced in Malaysia, coming to DiGi

Posted:  August 18, 2010   By: soyacincau   4 comments

HTC today has announced the arrival of HTC Aria, a new addition to its line up of Android devices. It was first revealed as an AT&T exclusive device in the US and now it has finally arrived in Malaysia. This joins the recent Android offering of HTC Wildfire, Legend and Desire.

The HTC Aria’s specification is quite identical with the slightly older HTC Legend. It features a 3.2″ touch screen with a decent 320×480 HVGA resolution but there’s no mention if it is using SLCD or AMOLED. It is also powered with a 600MHz processor, 512MB of ROM and 384MB of RAM. For expandable storage it comes with removable microSD slot. The HTC Aria comes bundled with a 2GB microSD in the box.

The rest of the bells and whistles are standard such as Internal GPS, G-Sensor, 5.0MP Camera, 3G with HSPA support up to 7.2Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support. The OS installed is Android 2.1 Eclair with our favourite HTC Sense.

Strangely, the HTC Aria uses a smaller 1200mAh Lithium-Ion battery which is lower than the 1300mAh version used on the HTC Wildfire and Legend. So in a nutshell, this looks like a HTC Legend with a new design and a lower capacity battery.

The HTC Aria will retail at RM1799 at participating dealers and it will also be made available at DiGi Centres & Specialised stores in early September 2010. No bundling details have been revealed and we believe this will be similar to DiGi’s HTC Legend bundling on DG Smart Plan.

You can get more details on the HTC Aria here.
