Google Maps Navigation that gives you turn-by-turn navigation is now available in Canada & European countries! This comes right after its availability in the US and UK.
More specifically, the new countries supported in this Google Maps 4.2 release are:
The Google Mobile team even put it to the test by going on a road trip across Europe and looks like they had great fun on the famed Autobahn. If you’re heading to Europe for a road trip, this is a must have upgrade for your Android 1.6 and above device.
If you can’t wait to get a feel of Google Maps Navigation, check out this alternative solution.

Google Maps Navigation is now available in Malaysia! Well, sort of, unofficially. There’s a modded Google Maps 4.1 called “Brut Google Maps r6″ which allows Map Navigation to work at places without official support.
That’s right, you can finally use Google’s turn by turn navigation before its officially available outside the United States and recently United Kingdom.
Head on to the thread at XDA Developer Forums to download the BRUT edition of Google Maps 4.1. You would need to allow installation of software of “Unknown sources” from your Android settings first.

We’ve tried it and it isn’t without any flaws and limitation. We discovered that there’s no street name displayed at the top (Unnamed road) and timing of Voice Guidance is too late. The GPS lady voice often gives direction AFTER making the turn, which is pointless. So you would need to depend on the on screen directions instead.
Although it is not perfect, it is still something usable. Thanks to BRUT!

Google Maps Navigation, a sought after feature for any Android device is now available for the United Kingdom, according to an update from Engadget. At the time of announcement last year, the turn by turn navigation from Google was only available in the United States.
This is good news to Android 2.1 users in the UK but unfortunately HTC Hero users may have to wait a little longer. According to Engadget, Hero users will need to wait until June for an official free upgrade to Android 2.1 Eclair in Europe.
Android 1.6 and above is required to get the navigation feature and looks like Europe folks would be stuck with their Android 1.5 for the time being. At the moment, Taiwan and US users are eligible for the free Android 2.1 upgrade.
Our question to Google, when is Malaysia’s turn?

After our Unboxing Post of the HTC Legend, now it’s time to see if it works as good as it looks. We’re going to compare the user experience with the iPhone 3GS, a worthy competitor in this segment.
We’ll be showing you how it fares when it comes to typing, moving around through menus, internet browsing experience, media capabilities and of course photo and video performance.
