Samsung has finally launched its new Galaxy A8 (2018) series in Malaysia. These are their new premium mid-range smartphones that offer dual-selfie cameras along with IP68 dust and water resistance. Announced globally last month, the Galaxy A8 (2018) series is priced from RM1,799 which is much lower than we originally expected.

Samsung‘s off to a sexy start in 2018 with the launch of a pair of brand new premium mid-range handsets that have a lot of things in common with the company’s flagships, and even improves on some of their weaknesses. They’re called the Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ (so it’s more in line with their Galaxy S lineup) and we finally have a launch date for them here in Malaysia.
Hint: It’s next week.
Before we enter the new year, Samsung has already revealed its Galaxy A series for 2018. Unlike its predecessor, Samsung appears to be sticking to just two models to mimic its current Galaxy S series. If you’re wondering about the price tag, the new premium mid-range duo has officially launched in Vietnam and Samsung has revealed their local pricing.

Ask anyone who has some experience with searching for the best bang-for-buck smartphone and they’ll probably tell you to avoid big brands when you’re on a tight budget. Stick to something like Xiaomi, for example, and you’re bound to get something that’ll give you way more smartphone for your money.
But that doesn’t stop big brands like Samsung from making entry and mid-range smartphones. And the thing I noticed with something like Samsung’s brand new Galaxy A8 is that they’re getting dangerously good at doing this.

At 5.7 inches, it has the same screen size as the Galaxy Note series and it is also Samsung’s thinnest smart phone at only 5.9mm. The Galaxy A8 is officially launched in Malaysia at RM1,888 and we’re getting the 32GB storage option along with dual-SIMs supporting 4G LTE.
After tons of leaks, the Galaxy A8 is now official with a thickness of just 5.9mm. While it won’t break any new world records, the Galaxy A8 is the thinnest smart phone that Samsung has ever produced, beating its previous 6.3mm record on the Galaxy A7.
From the exterior design, it still maintains the same unibody approach like the rest of its Galaxy A series but the A8 inherits some design cues from their current flagship. For starters, the metal frame has some chiseled design and the front looks like a larger Galaxy S6. Even the home button has a fingerprint scanner which unlocks at a single touch.
We recently reported that Samsung‘s thinnest smartphone, the Galaxy A8 was well on its way, with the potential pricing and launch date getting leaked. Now thanks to our tipster @KevinNgTK, we know that it might be priced at RM 1,888 and might be coming sooner than we think since it was spotted in SIRIM’s database. The device is reported to be launching in China July 17th.
We already have quite a few details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8, from its specs down to its almost bezel-less design. Now the ultra-thin phone is potentially launching sometime next week and apparently already has pricing to boot.
It looks like the guys at Samsung isn’t reducing the number of smart phone models anytime soon. The Galaxy A series will be getting a new model soon in the form of the Galaxy A8. While the new number represents a bigger screen, the new Galaxy A8 also gets a fresher design inspired by its current Galaxy S6 flagship.
Normally you would expect some leakster or informant to drop more photos before its official announcement but this time the Galaxy A8 gets a full hands-on video by TENNA. That’s right, the official certification body for China has given the Galaxy A8 a full reveal in a hands-on video.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 was supposedly one of the brand’s thinnest smartphones in the market but there’s a new contender for the title from Samsung which is the Samsung Galaxy A8 which is purportedly is just 5.9mm thick.
In terms of design it looks like it shares the same flat edge design as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, but has some design influences from the Galaxy S6 as well. The frame generally looks like its will have the metal rim which is more or less Samsung’s signature styling. The device is rumoured to come in at 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm and apparently is just 140g in weight; literally making it the slimmest smartphone Samsung has produced to date.
