If you have been eyeing for Apple products, mark your calendars this Friday 6th January 2012. Apple Online store is throwing a one day Apple shopping event in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New year festival.
In last year‘s CNY promo, Apple slashed up to RM131 from its iPad price and additional RM331 discounts on its MacBooks and iMacs. If the trend continues, we should be expecting similar discounts as well.
Since the iPhone 4S was launched just recently, we don’t expect any reductions but who knows Apple might throw in something special.

Dyzplastic, the company that started off the original Android figurines is coming out with a fresh new series for 2011. According to their blog, there will be a total of 12 designs which is more than its previous 10 in the first series.
To kick start the new year, they had also released a special edition Chinese New Year God of Fortune shown below. If you’re interested in getting one, there’s actually a local retailer in Malaysia and the Chinese New Year Android figure is going at RM38.80.
This Chinese New Year, P1 is offering 2 special promotion on P1 Voice. All P1 Voice subscribers can make IDD calls as low as 5 sen per minute to both fixed and mobile numbers for China, Hong Kong, Singapore and USA. Australia and Taiwan numbers are also on offer at 8 sen per minute for fixed line. This special discounted IDD rate is applicable only from 2nd till 17th of February 2011.
For P1 subscribers who have yet to sign up for P1 Voice, they are giving a gradual discount on local calls for 2nd – 4th month if you signed up for their P30 and P50 plans from now until end of February 2011. How it works is that it gives you 30% off for the 2nd month, 40% off for the 3rd month and 50% off for the 4th month of your subscription.
P30 and P50 voice plans are free from monthly rental but there’s a minimum monthly commitment of RM30 and RM50 respectively. The main difference is that P30 domestic call rates are charged at 15 sen/minute while P50 is charged at 12 sen/minute. All IDD calls are charged at 15 seconds block while domestic calls within Malaysia are charged at 30 seconds block. Since P1 Voice uses your typical home phone, this is only applicable for P1 home or office modem that comes with a phone port such as DV-230 and DX-230.
For more information, visit P1 Voice page.
Earlier on, DiGi made a little boo boo on their website when a contest T&C appeared on their CNY Prepaid promo. The T&C revealed a 888th caller contest of the hour where the 888th caller of each hour during 1st and 2nd day of Chinese New Year will stand a chance to win RM888 talktime for prepaid or 8888 Bonuslink points for postpaid.
A couple of hours later, the said T&C was replaced with the correct one. Initially we thought this was a CNY easter egg but @digi_telco was rather silent about our discovery. Now DiGi has finally revealed the contest just couple of days before CNY. So far the terms look the same as before.
For more information, check out DiGi’s 888th caller contest page on Facebook .
In typical DiGi fashion, this latest Chinese New Year tribute ad from the telco is trademark cheeky, what else can you expect from the telco that gave us the lovable and unforgettable Yellow Coverage Fellow?
Head on over to after the jump to view the ad. One thing that’s got us curious is the obvious appearance of a white coverage fellow in the ad. We’re not sure what it means but is DiGi trying to clue us in on something here? Its a long shot but could it be a symbol for the year of the rabbit?
The only other time we saw a white coverage fellow was in the DiGi roaming ad, the one that featured Japan as a roaming destination. Remember that ad? Well if you don’t its available for viewing after the jump. Though we don’t think that there’s any correlation.
Anyone can decipher what the appearance of the white coverage fellow means? Or are we just over analyzing things? Comment us!
Anyways, we always look forward to these festive ads, wonder what Maxis has in store?
