The recent quake and tsunami disaster has brought major destruction to Japan. Apple has initiated a charity drive online on iTunes to collect funds to support rescue efforts by the Red Cross. This can be done on iTunes via this link and donations can be made from $5 to $200.
All donations will be anonymous as Apple does not share your details with the Red Cross. Proceeds from this charity drive will be used by the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to the victims. Apple is said to have waive its 30% cut on this iTunes purchase.

DiGi is doing another promo in conjunction with the coming Deepavali festival. For DiGi Prepaid customers, they are giving 30 minutes free talk time between DiGi numbers for top ups of RM30 and above. This is only applicable for top ups between 2-4 November 2010. For DiGi Postpaid, DiGi-DiGi calls are discounted 30% from 9AM to 9PM on Deepavali Day. You can check out the FAQ for this promo here.
In this festival of light, DiGi is also doing a charity drive via SMS where the RM2 charged will be fully contributed for the sale of “Share the light” ringtone. All proceeds will go to the Total Empowerment Camp to improve students from less fortunate backgrounds. This is a much better charity drive compared to the last one they did during Hari Raya.
More details on the SMS donation here.

DiGi is doing another Hari Raya campaign and this time DiGi Postpaid users get 15% off for DiGi-DiGi calls made during 10th and 11th September from 9PM to 9AM. For prepaid users, there was a Extra Talk Time Raya offer for those who top up on 6-7 September.
DiGi also wants to do a bit of charity this Raya. Users are asked to send RAYA to 36365 to get a list of charity bodies that you can contribute. You’ll be sent a link to view the list which subjects to data cost. Are you able to contribute directly from your mobile? The answer is NO.
We say this is pointless “charity” drive. The only one benefiting is DiGi, which will earn from data charge and SMS sent. Save your money and view the link directly here. Such info can be made available on their website and its pointless if you ask us.
If DiGi was serious about charity, they should have pledged a portion of calls made during Raya or a portion of top up which was done recently by TuneTalk.

Tune Talk Prepaid is doing some good deeds during Ramadhan. A portion of all top ups will be contributed to possibly a charity of your choice. You’ll still be getting your full top up value while Tune Talk pledge extra for every top up made.
The charity organisation that they will be contributed is nominated by Tune Talk customers. Just SMS the name of your charity of choice to 7292 which is chargable at 10 sen each. This drive will run from 24th August until 5th September 2010. The top 5 nominated charities by 11th September will get the funds.
There’s no exact percentage that Tune Talk is going to give to charity as its written at their sole discretion on the T&Cs.
