BlackBerry Bold 9900 Malaysia launch September 15

Posted:  August 19, 2011   By: ccsoya   2 comments

BlackBerry users, it’s time to sell-off/give away your old Blackberrys and start saving up for the Bold 9900. It’s official, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will hit stores September 19 15 and here’s the best part, you don’t need to sign for a contract with a telco to purchase one.

On launch day, the Bold 9900 will be available for purchase from authorised dealers outright, however there’s no word on pricing yet at the moment.

If you’re still keen to get the Bold 9900 with a contract, Celcom, DiGi and Maxis, have already opened registrations of interest. We’re expecting U Mobile to offer the device soon as well. Three telcos opening ROI simultaneously for the same device, this is something you don’t see very often.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is the first Bold to feature a touchscreen interface and it is quite possibly the best Bold ever. At 10.5mm thin, it’s definitely the thinnest Bold ever. In fact, the 9900 is the thinnest and most powerful smartphone BlackBerry has ever produced with a much improved BlackBerry 7 OS, a 1GHz processor, 8GB of on-board memory, NFC support and a 5MP camera with 720p video recording capability that’s the best we’ve seen on a BlackBerry device.

If there’s only one BlackBerry that we can recommend to you, this is it.

The anticipated BlackBerry Bold 9900 is also coming to DiGi. Today they have commenced registration of interest for those wish to be the first to know when it is available.

Earlier this week, Maxis too has started its BlackBerry Bold 9900 ROI. Based on past experience, ROI doesn’t necessary mean they would be the first to launch. Who knows Celcom or even U Mobile might make the first move to offer it in Malaysia.

To pre-register, head over to DiGi’s page.

Finally some signs that BlackBerry Bold 9900 is coming to Malaysia. Maxis today has commenced its registration of interest for BlackBerry’s new Bold device which now comes with a 2.8″ touch screen.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 is RIM’s answer to narrow the gap with its rival smart phones today. The specs of having a 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM and 8GB of internal storage does seem promising. Earlier on we’ve seen a video sample at HD 720p which is actually pretty good. No pricing details are available yet but they better priced it competitively as most flagship devices are below RM2300 mark.

To register your interest and to be the first to know when it is available, head here.

Sample video: BlackBerry Bold 9900

Here’s a sample video taken using the camera on the — yet to be released in Malaysia — BlackBerry Bold 9900. RIM previously did a great job at choosing the worst possible cameras for their devices especially on their Bold line of phones, but crappy cameras are no longer the case with the new Bold 9900.

The 5MP shooter on the 9900 is like nothing we’ve ever seen on a BlackBerry. Videos are recorded in 720p HD at 1280×720 resolution, and boy do they look good. The video recording is top-notch. Images are clear at the colour reproduction and saturation is stellar. It certainly gives a lot of the better Android and iPhone cameras a run for their money. The sound recording is pretty good as well considering the noisy environment, the separation is good which makes hearing the speaker’s voice easy.

So if this is anything to go by, it looks like the days of crappy Twitpics from your BlackBerry friends are numbered. Rejoice BlackBerry diehards, rejoice!

At the BlackBerry PlayBook media launch tonight, the tablet wasn’t the only one BlackBerry getting all the attention. The yet to be launched BlackBerry Bold 9900 was also present to spend some quality time with the media in attendance, and word has it, RIM‘s latest Bold will be launched in Malaysia soon.

The Bold 9900 is RIM’s most advanced BlackBerry yet. It features a 1.2Ghz single-core Snapdragon processor with 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The 2.8-inch display is now a touchscreen with 640×480 pixel resolution, the highest of all the Bolds preceding the 9900. The camera resolution is up from 3.2MP on the Bold 9700 to 5MP on the 9900 and RIM has also included NFC in the new Bold.

Most important of all, the new Bold will run BlackBerry’s latest version of the BlackBerry OS, the BlackBerry 7, which it claims offers up a much smoother UI than previous versions. RIM even has a name for the smooth UI, they call it “Liquid Graphics”.

Yes, soon is a general term, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week, it could be next month, we don’t know for sure but what is certain is that the Bold 9900 is coming to Malaysia. Now it’s only a matter of time and a matter of finding out which telco will be the first to offer it. Will it be BlackBerry fanboys Celcom or will Maxis come up top with this device?

Whatever it is, it won’t be long until all is revealed. Stay tuned.

A closer look at the BlackBerry Bold 9900

Posted:  May 8, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

The new BlackBerry Bold 9900 is the first Bold from RIM to feature a touchscreen. But more than that, the new Bold also comes with the latest BlackBerry 7 OS, a single-core Snapdragon processor 1.2Ghz with 768MB or RAM, 8GB of on-board memory (expandable to 32GB with MicroSD) and a 2.8-inch screen pushing out 640×480 resolution not to mention a 5MP camera with 720p video recording capability. This makes the 9900 the most powerful Bold to come out of the Canadian company.

How does all these enhancements translate to the real world? Many that have been lucky enough to get a hands-on of the device say that the 9900 is very fast and responsive. The “Liquid Graphics” responsiveness claimed by RIM is something one would notice right away with the 9900.

Take a look at the video and tell us what you think.

We’re expecting Celcom to make an announcement on the Bold 9900 in the next couple of months.

BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 with Touch screen officially revealed

Posted:  May 3, 2011   By: soyacincau   2 comments

The BlackBerry Bold with touch screen is officially announced by RIM today. The BlackBerry Bold being a business oriented device is now more practical with the typical QWERTY keys for fast input and with a touch screen for ease of navigation. Finally you can touch the screen of the Bold!

One of the most important highlight is that the Bold 9900/9930 is the thinnest BlackBerry ever produced at only 10.5mm. It comes with a 2.8″ screen with resolution of 640×480 which is a vast improvement over its predecessors and a pixel density of 287dpi. To meet with growing demand, the new Bold now comes with a faster 1.2GHz snapdragon processor and runs on the latest BlackBerry 7 OS. According to CrackBerry that managed to get a hands-on, the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 feels much faster with the UI being smoother which is what RIM calls “Liquid Graphics”.

So what’s the difference between 9900 and 9930? According to Engadget, the 9900 supports HSPA+ while the 9930 is a world phone which supports both GSM and CDMA. Both devices will support 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1. It also comes with 8GB of storage, 5MP camera and support for NFC.

Now we wonder when will Celcom, DiGi, Maxis and U Mobile offer the new touch screen Bold? Not too long ago when the BlackBerry Torch was announced, it didn’t take too long for the device to reach our shores. Let’s hope it will be here in couple of months time.

For more information, you can check out the BlackBerry Bold 9900 page here. Thanks @Blaze_Edge for the heads up!

Commercials for the two upcoming BlackBerry devices leaked

Posted:  April 14, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

Commercials for two of BlackBerry’s upcoming devices have been leaked out onto the Internet and along with it their official names. First we have the leaked commercial for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, the first touch-type Bold to come from RIM and the other is the BlackBerry 9860 or what most are referring as the Touch.

Typical to the Bold franchise, the ads suggest the 9900 to be a business-centric device with enhanced entertainment features like gaming. The 9860 on the other hand, is positioned to be a more entertainment-focused device for those who like to play games, watch videos and create content with their device.

Considering these BlackBerry leaks are appearing quite regularly in this few weeks, we’re expecting a big announcement from RIM very soon.

BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 slated for June/July global launch

Posted:  April 8, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

RIM is going big with touchscreens for 2011 by introducing more touchscreen devices into their BlackBerry product line-up.

One such device that will definitely get Berry fans excited is the BlackBerry Bold Touch. The Bold Touch is a BlackBerry in the very familiar Bold form factor but with the addition of a touchscreen. We know its way too early to say this but the Bold Touch could very well be the best BlackBerry ever. We see a lot of potential in this touch-type device.

The Bold Touch features a larger 2.8″ capacitive touchscreen with 640×480px resolution, a 5.0MP camera with — thankfully — 720p HD video recording and possibly a 1.2GHz processor. The Bold Touch looks to bigger than the Bold 9700, due to its larger screen. This also makes the QWERTY keypad bigger like which hopefully will translate to more comfortable typing. We’re not a fan of the 9700′s keypad. At the back, the backplate looks like it’s made out of carbon fibre — sexy.

If you’re wondering The Bold Touch will be released, word has it that RIM will make an official announcement at BlackBerry World in early May with a global release slated around June/July.
