The catch is that the offer is limited to the first 30 customers/day (10 per device) and one offer per customer.

Devices that will be on offer the PC Fair 15 – 17 April 2011:
BlackBerry Torch
BlackBerry Bold 9700
BlackBerry Curve 3G

In addition to that, BlackBerry is offering “free accessories” worth RM264. We’re not sure what these accessories are and its only for the BlackBerry device purchased at full price only.

BlackBerry 6 now available for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 3G

Posted:  March 14, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

Owners of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and the BlackBerry Curve 3G can now upgrade the operating system of their devices to the latest BlackBerry 6 OS

To upgrade, existing owners of the BlackBerry Curve 3G and BlackBerry Bold 9700 can connect their smartphone to their computer and go to ap.blackberry.com/blackberry6 to download the update.

Unlike Apple, where subsequent updates means less and less new features being introduced to older models, we assume that the OS update for BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 3G users will offer the full set of features and enhancements that come with BlackBerry 6. If that is the case, it would feel almost like getting a new phone.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 3G users, let us know how the OS upgrade turned out for you.

SenQ offers BlackBerry Curve/Bold with 36 month installments

Posted:  October 5, 2010   By: soyacincau   No comments

If you’ve been looking for a BlackBerry without contract but couldn’t afford to fork out a huge sum one go, SenQ offers a solution. They are offering the BlackBerry Bold 9700, Curve 8520 and the latest Curve 3G 9300 with a 3 year installment plan.

With this offer, the Curve 8520 is going for RM29.83/month while the newer Curve 3G (9300) can be yours for RM36.08/month. Meanwhile, the higher range BlackBerry Bold 9700 goes for as low as RM52.05/month. To make the deal worth the duration, SenQ is also giving warranty up to 3 years as well. They are also throwing in a Free BackBerry Swivel holster worth RM132.

Honestly we think paying 3 years for a phone is just too long as you would probably changed phones by then. Since they mention the duration is “up to” 3 years, we assume that you could opt for a lower duration say 12 or 24 months.

We believe there is a market for such offer as this makes it easier to own a BlackBerry than ever before. A possible taker for this offer may be likely to go for a prepaid service like Xpax that offers as low as RM0.50 for basic BBM service. So RM15 per month (30 days) for BBM and RM30 monthly for a Curve 8520 is pretty affordable for the masses.

This offer is valid until 31st October 2010. If you’re interested, check out the full details over at SenQ.

DiGi BlackBerry Promo, Bold 9700 offered at RM999 this weekend

Posted:  September 18, 2010   By: soyacincau   No comments

UPDATE: The RM999 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 seems to be a September promo.

DiGi is doing a BlackBerry Promo roadshow this weekend at Mid Valley Megamall (East Atrium) and Sungai Wang (Concourse). As usual, it is the same DG Smart Plan BlackBerry offer where you get to enjoy RM28/month subscription for the first 6 months, which is normally charged at RM68/month for DG Smart Plan.

Now the deal is even sweeter as the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is now offered for RM999, which is an extra RM200 off from the previous promo. The price of the Curve 8520 however is still maintained at RM459. As usual, these prices are expected to be tied with a 24 months contract.

If you want to avoid the MidValley and Sungai Wang areas over the weekend, DiGi also tweeted that the offer is also extended at these selected outlets.

Sadly, no Curve 3G yet from DiGi. If the Bold 9700 and Curve 8520 is not what you’re looking for, you probably want to head to The Curve tomorrow for Celcom’s RM388 BlackBerry Curve 3G promotion.

Info on new BlackBerry Bold leaked

Posted:  August 22, 2010   By: ccsoya   No comments

Click for larger image.

It’s probably a loosely kept secret that RIM is working on successor for the all too familiar Bold 9700. But what is not known is that how the Bold replacement will look like. It turns out, not much different from the current Bold, which, if you recall, looks very much like the Bold 9000 that was launched over two years ago.

So what can you expect with the new Bold?

From leaked internal product presentation slides, it looks like the new Bold is more of a refresher model for the current 9700. Design-wise the new Bold — codenamed R020 (rumored to be called the Bold 9780 when it enters the market) — will wear very much the same look as the 9700 but with “premium materials” being used in the construction. Will the new Bold see titanium and carbon fibre being used? We doubt it very much. There will be however, a “piano-style QWERTY”, charcoal rails (as opposed to the chrome accents we see on the 9700) and leather accents on the back panel. And there will be a white version as well.

In terms of specs, not much has changed, The new Bold will get more memory 512MB RAM compared to today’s 256MB and there’s a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash (what? no 720p HD recording?) and 512MB on board memory. For memory expansion, the upcoming Bold takes in MicroSD up to 32GB in size.

The R020 will run BlackBerry 6 and if the walkthrough video we saw earlier is any indication, then you can expect the R020 to run very snappy, with a much improved web browsing experience. Much better, it seems, than the Torch 9800.

No launch date is stated in the slides, but we’re shooting for a holiday season appearance of the new Bold.

VIDEO: BlackBerry 6 running on a Bold 9700

Posted:  August 21, 2010   By: ccsoya   No comments

We have here a short video walkthough of RIM’s latest OS — the BlackBerry 6 — running on a non-touchscreen, non-QWERTY slideout keypad BlackBerry Bold 9700. Oddly enough, the BlackBerry 6 OS seems to be running better on the old Bold 9700 than the new Torch 9800.

The Bold 9700 running BlackBerry 6 is snappier, delivers a better browser experience compared to the old OS and adds face recognition to the camera. Not a bad upgrade but in terms of user experience, it’s probably still lagging behind the touch screen offerings from the Android and iPhone camps.

What in the world is BlackBerry doing? At this rate, BlackBerry won’t be able to keep up with the plethora of high-end Android devices out there and of course the ubiquitous iPhone 4.

But BlackBerry Bold 9700 owners will be happy to know that the BlackBerry 6 OS can run on their device. Now it’s only a matter of RIM making the BlackBerry 6 update available to Bold owners ASAP.

Head on over to after the jump for the video walkthrough.

DiGi DG Smart Plan Blackberry Promotion

Posted:  August 21, 2010   By: soyacincau   2 comments

DiGi is throwing a special deal on Blackberry Bold and Curve which is actually a repeat of what was offered at PC Fair II 2010.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 can be yours for only RM1199 or the BlackBerry Curve 8520 for only RM459. These prices are applicable with a 24 month contract on DG Smart Plan. Just like the PC Fair promo, the first 6 months subscription is offered at RM28/month instead of the usual RM68/month.

So how much do you save? From the offer, you’ll save additional RM100 from the usual DG Smart Plan 24 months BlackBerry contract price. On top of that, you save a further RM40x6 months off your subscription. That’s a total of RM340 savings.

If you missed the PC Fair Offer, this is your chance again but you would need to catch them at their roadshow at Lowyat Plaza until 29th August.

On their Facebook page, the offer is offered at:

1. Lowyat Plaza Boulevard

2. Sungai Wang Plaza (DiGi Specialised Store)

3. Lowyat Plaza Concourse

4. Carrefour Kepong
