Could this be Sony’s upcoming “bezel-less” flagship smartphone?

After the Xiaomi Mi MIX, almost every manufacturer has a “bezel-less” or an 18:9 display flagship smartphone in their lineup. Now it appears that Sony is releasing a “bezel-less” smartphone of their own which boasts a screen to body ratio of over 90%. That’s Mi MIX levels of all-screen and minimal bezels.

The alleged render below claims to be the Xperia XZ2 which should be making its debut at MWC 2018 in February next year. Carrying the codename Sony H8216, the device claims to have a 5.5″ 4K display and it will run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB of RAM plus 64GB of storage onboard.

Unlike the Mi MIX, where it has a bottom chin to house its front-facing camera, the XZ2 pictured above appears to be doing the opposite with a visible forehead instead. This would mean that you can take selfies the normal way since the front camera is mounted at the top.

The source also mentions that it will have two 12MP main cameras at the back, while the front will house a 16MP camera. Typical of Sony, the device is alleged to carry a modest 3,130mAh battery which will support QuickCharge. Out of the box, it will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo.

In case you missed it, a couple of upcoming Xperia smartphone renders have surfaced which marks a fresh revamp after years of reusing the same blocky design. You can check them out here.

What do you think of this Xperia XZ2 render? Is this the redesign that you’ve been waiting for? Let us know in the comments below.
