Dell’s launched their brand new Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 and Inspiron 15 7000 laptops in Malaysia. This time they pack Intel’s latest chips into relatively sleek metal bodies and have prices starting from just under RM4,450.

Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1

The Inspiron 13 7000 is Dell’s new convertible laptop. It features a 13.3-inch Full HD IPS touch display with relatively narrow bezels.

Inside, it’s powered by either an 8th-generation Intel Core i5-8250U processor or an Intel Core i7-8550U processor that’s mated to 8GB of 2400MHz memory and 256GB of SSD storage.

I/O includes 2 USB Type-A 3.1 gen 1 ports, a headphone jack, an HDMI 2.0 port, a USB Type-C 3.1 gen 1 port and an SD card slot.

The device itself feels pretty nice to type on. The hinge is stiff enough that it didn’t wobble when I typed on it and the keyboard feels pretty similar to most other Dell Inspiron keyboards.

Its bottom lip also has a little rounded groove so it’s more comfortable to use the trackpad on. It’s not super light, though, coming in a 1.45 kg, despite its rather svelte body.

Dell’s new Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 is priced at RM5,449 for the Core i5 model and RM5,899 for the Intel Core i7 model. Learn more here.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000

If the 2-in-1 convertible form factor is not your cup of tea, you can opt for the traditional laptop design offered by the new Inspiron 15 7000. Its hinge will allow you to open the laptop up to a flat 180 degrees but the screen won’t flip around.

This model sports a larger 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display but it isn’t touch sensitive. It does still feature the relatively slim bezels you’d find on the Inspiron 13 7000, though.

Dell Malaysia offers two variants for this particular laptop. The first model sports an 8th gen Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 4GB of DDR4 2,400MHz RAM and a 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD storage combo. This model retails for RM4,449.

Want more power? You can opt for the version that costs RM5,499 instead. This bumps the processor up to an 8th gen Intel Core i7-8550U chip with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD storage combo.

Both versions do come with an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX discrete graphics card with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. I/O includes an SD card reader, 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A ports, an Ethernet port, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C port (with power delivery), 1 HDMI port, and a headphone jack.

One thing I was a little disappointed to find was that the laptop didn’t come with a numpad, though, the keyboard is pretty nice to type on. Weighing 1.99kg, it is quite heavy.

Besides the 2 new laptops, Dell also updated their XPS 13 and Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 with 8th gen Intel processors. All the new laptops are available now except the updated XPS 13 which will arrive in October.
