If you thought the Note8 was pricey, check out the iPhone 8’s price tag

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is an expensive device. But, as the saying goes, if you can do something, someone else could probably do it better. And as far as pricing for the top-of-the-line smartphones is concerned, it looks like Apple is once again going to one up Samsung for their upcoming iPhone 8.

In a recent post by the New York Times, the author revealed that the upcoming iPhone 8 (or iPhone X or whatever it will be called) will be priced around USD999 (around RM4,270) according to “people briefed on the product”. Unfortunately, the source chose to remain anonymous because they were “not authorised to speak publicly”.

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has prices starting from USD929 (around RM3,970) in the US unlocked, while carrier locked devices can push its price up to USD960 (around RM4,103).

That said, this isn’t that surprising considering Apple devices have always been more expensive than Samsung’s phones. Even last year’s iPhone 7 Plus in Malaysia has base model prices that are more expensive than this year’s Galaxy S8+. So, with a “special edition” iPhone, were you really surprised that it’s more expensive?

Still, we don’t actually have an official price for the Galaxy Note8 in Malaysia yet, though we did dig pretty deep into what we think it would cost to pick one up locally. I suppose, only time will tell.

Besides that, the report also indicates that the iPhone 8 will indeed come with a screen that has reduced bezels, facial recognition for unlocking the device, as well as the ability to charge it with magnetic induction. All of these features have been leaked at some point in the past so it does seem to line up with what the source is saying.

What do you guys think? How much would you pay for the iPhone 8?
