You can still use WhatsApp on BlackBerry 10 devices until the end of 2017

BlackBerry 10 WhatsApp extended support

If you’re still using a BlackBerry 10 device such as the BlackBerry Classic, Passport, Leap, as well as the BlackBerry Q and Z series, you’re in luck. WhatsApp has extended its support for BlackBerry 10 and even BlackBerry OS7+ users until the end of this year.

This is yet another extension as WhatsApp was supposed to end support for BlackBerry operating systems by end 2016. Later on, they had extended the deadline to 30 June 2017. This will not affect the newer BlackBerry models that run on Android OS which includes the latest Blackberry KEYone, PRIV, DTEK50 and DTEK60.

So what happens after 31 December? Assuming this is the final extension, you won’t be able to connect to WhatsApp on your current BlackBerry 10/OS 7 device. You could sideload the Android version on your BlackBerry 10 device via APK but you’ll lose out on the BlackBerry Hub integration. If you’re still on a BlackBerry 10 or older device, do let us know if you’re planning on making the switch to a newer Android-powered BlackBerry or other platforms soon.
