Xiaomi‘s next big event is taking place tomorrow, the 27th of July. The Chinese company is set to launch at least one smartphone (or maybe two) and a new affordable notebook. While there have been many rumours surrounding the new notebook, this may be our first real look at Xiaomi’s upcoming “Mi Notebook”.
If these pictures are to be believed, the new Mi Notebook does look very similar to something like the HP Envy 15 and a MacBook Pro with a relatively thin metal body. On the right, there appears to be a full-sized USB Type A port alongside a USB Type-C port which will likely be for power.
Unfortunately, the keyboard doesn’t look like it has much travel distance and it also uses a shrunken arrow key setup as opposed to a full-sized one.
In terms of specifications, the Mi Notebook is said to come in two variants — a high spec model and a low spec model. The high spec variant is said to cost RMB6,699 (around RM4,081) and will come with an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 970M plus a 512GB SSD.
On the other hand, the more affordable RMB3,999 (around RM2,436) variant is said to sport an Intel Core i5 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD storage.
Do keep in mind that these are only rumours and you should take them with a large tablespoon of salt. None of this has been officially confirmed yet, but we will find out soon enough, so stay tuned for our full coverage of the official launch event.
