The Zenfone series is ASUS surprising breakthrough in the smart phone segment, propelling themselves from zero to Malaysia’s #3 smart phone brand in 2015. Not to rest on its laurels, they are about to replicate the same formula for its tablets, offering high-end features and experience in an affordable price range.

According to recent leaks, ASUS is coming up with a new ZenPad series that’s expected to run on Intel’s new Atom processors.

ZenPad 7

Available in 2 sizes, the ZenPad 7 is their base model and it comes in both WiFi and 3G version. The design doesn’t differ much from its current FonePad range and it has been reported to be listed on some Russian retailers.

Under the hood, it runs on an Intel Atom x3 that’s mated to 1GB of RAM with storage options of 8GB/16GB which are expandable with microSD. The screen however is quite low rate with a 7″ IPS panel doing 1024×600 resolution. In terms of price, it is expected to be 139 Euro (about RM565) for WiFi and 159 Euro (about RM646) for the 3G version.

ZenPad 8

For something with more grunt, the ZenPad 8 gets a larger 8″ display with higher resolution 2048×1536 pixels that’s similar to the iPad’s retina display. Under the hood, it is said to be either an Intel Atom Z3560 (that’s powering the high spec ZenFone 2) or an Atom Z3530. There’s 2GB of RAM and storage option ranges from 8GB to 64GB.

Both devices are expected to be launched sometime during Computex that’s happening next month.
