HTC’s One series had always been impressive. Having the impression of being in the premium Android range for their high quality builds, impressive specs and beats audio, HTC seems to have another release up their sleeves, and we believe it will be quite an “eye-opener”. The strangely named HTC One M8 Eye is said to debut on October 8 together with its action camera that could be called recamera. The new One M8 eye appears to be a slight upgrade over its current flagship the HTC One M8.

This new kid on the block will firstly have a 13-megapixel camera instead of their no-longer-impressive 4MP UltraPixel camera that’s being frown upon on the current M8. Also retained is a secondary camera that gives it additional depth of field features for U Focus. In a nutshell, the HTC One M8 Eye is basically the same One M8 with the new 13MP Duo Camera from the recently announced Butterfly 2.

The rest of the specs are rumored to be closely identical to the original M8, with probably slight dimension changes or design to set them apart. Performance-wise would somewhat be the same, expecting the same Snapdragon 801 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM. The same 5” 1080p display is likely to be used again, with their HTC Sense-skinned Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Personally, if they want to be impressive or top off their previous HTC One M8 sales, they should at least fit a Snapdragon 805/810 chipset with 3GB of RAM or perhaps jump into the QHD bandwagon to be really be an eye-opener. Their current high-end offering is the same thing across the board except for couple of differences separating the One M8, One E8, Butterfly 2 and this upcoming new One M8 Eye.
