Hong Leong Bank offers an easy way to send cash from your mobile device. Called PEx, it is similar to Maybank’s Cardless Withdrawal feature which only requires the recipient’s mobile phone number. To get started, you would need to install the Hong Leong Connect app and it lets you choose who to send cash from your contact list.

There are 3 options available – Direct, ATM collection and Internet collection. For PEx direct, the recipient must be an existing Hong Leong Bank customer and they can get to choose which account to receive the money through the mobile app. Since it is an internal transfer, the transaction is free or charge.

If the recipient has no access to a bank account or has forgotten to bring their ATM cards, you can also transfer to them via PEx ATM Collection. All they need is the 6 digit collection code and they could withdraw from any Hong Leong Bank ATMs nationwide. This can be a potential life saver when you have forgotten your own wallet by just making a PEx transfer to your own number.

For those who prefer to receive cash directly into their bank accounts, the recipient can do so over the web through the PEx collection site. This is not just limited to Hong Leong Bank customers and it supports savings and current accounts of other participating local banks.

The transfer limit to PEx is quite high at RM1,000 per day and it cost RM0.50 per transfer for PEx ATM and PEx Internet collection. As comparison, Maybank charges RM1 per cardless withdrawal. Overall, this is quite an interesting feature from Hong Leong Bank and it offers a much easier way of sending cash without worrying about long account numbers and which bank it belongs to. For more information, head over to Hong Leong Bank’s PEx page.
