The newly announced all new HTC One comes with a new all aluminium design but on paper, it lacks the water and dust resistance that its rivals do. The Sony Xperia Z2 comes with IP58 rating which can withstand being submerged under 1.5 metres for 30 minutes while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is rated at IP67 which is below 1 metre of depth.

So is the All new HTC One water resistant? A new video shows the HTC One (M8) being submerged under water for 90 minutes and it still works. While this indicates that the device is somewhat ready for accidental liquid encounters, do note that HTC isn’t claiming anything about being waterproof.

Check out the video after the break and also included is a destruction test involving keys and hammers.
