VIDEO: Swimming with the Sony Xperia Z

The Sony Xperia Z is not just another flagship device due to its water and dust resistant capabilities. Water resistance isn’t something new for Sony as they have been churning out devices such as the Xperia active, Xperia Go, Xperia Acro S.

Instead of tossing the device into the water, we took the Xperia Z for a swim in a 1.5 metre deep pool for about 5-10 minutes while shooting a video in 1080p Full HD. In addition, the device was even flung up into the air above the water, before it was let to sink down to the bottom of the pool. We are overall impressed with its video recording performance and it even picks up underwater audio pretty well.

Being able to shoot underwater opens up more video recording possibilities but be warned that the Xperia Z with IP55/57 rating was only meant to submerged under 1 metre depth for a maximum of 30 minutes. Another thing to note is that the screen doesn’t work when submerged and we have to start video recording before it goes into the water.

Head after the break for some raw footages.
