The HTC Story

Not sure if many of you know this but HTC first started off as a little known computer manufacturer that then ventured into manufacturing phones for well-known brands like HP and Compaq (remember the the days of the iPAQ?). HTC also manufactured the once very popular Palm Treo 650.

Today, HTC stands proud as a prominent technology brand with an accomplished track record of innovations.

Check out this short video showcasing HTC’s long history in technology. For the older geeks out there, you can certainly relate to the iPAQ, O2 and Dopod devices that were developed and manufactured by HTC. We were fans of the XDA series and the iPAQ really set the standard for PDAs back then. Two of the particularly memorable ones were the hw6515 with is built-in GPS and iPAQ 5555 with its biometric thumb scanner. For the younger geeks who are HTC users, its nice to know the kind of pedigree that comes with the brand.

Your first didn't change much the way people using their phones then, apple did because they think before do. Your htc smartphone was an expensive not value for money laggy windows mobile with low usability and simplicity. Still dare to show so much of your failure products u have made, non of them make success in term of simplicity and influence other manufacturer to do what u did Until the year 2007 frankly speaking. I don't love apple until I've been came across on video why sj want to introduce a phone, because they want to make a product for their own uses and it's good and simple to use phone. That's the aim why they introduce iPhone. Unlike nowadays other mobile manufacturers making phones just to compete with iPhones, that's their aim. I really hope that there will be more companies like apple, doing more part in USABILITY innovation rather than wanna be the first, but the first like a prototype or demo set to earn money and play catching up game.

    you are right,.

    talk about rubbish HTC story, i challenged those android fan boy to go download(you all so used to get the free/pirated stuff already) steve jobs biography, read it and tell me you are not touched, and tell me you still support android platform so much.

    lets see whats next for android, more cores cpu and more rams? thats it?

    or make it window like? can change screen saver? oh, stylus…..yes, back to year 2000 again, stylus with galaxy note.

      yada yada yada. isheeps flaming htc for looking back at their own history,
      Not like HTC is stepping on apple in this video, they are just minding their own business (unlike samsung)
      If HTC never did what they did, who knows, we might not have what we have now. (applies not only to HTC but every other companies)

      Its called progress and development
      No one always makes it perfect the first time they create something

      And if u're going to say that apple perfected everything they made, Think again, they didnt create, they improved something someone else made. (or should I say, rename it and made it seems so amazing to you guys)

      And stop it with this Steve Jobs worshipping, He isnt a hero or an inventor, He is just a very good marketer.

      Dit Dot

      HTC started way before Steve Jobs even considered having an iPhone. At that time, HTC was a leader in Pocket PC which not many knew they here the ones behind iPAQ, the best Pocket PC back then.

      So just because you read Steve Jobs book, Apple is considered a Messiah? Since HTC started first, you cannot deny that Apple did see HTC as inspiration when they developed the iPhone.

      @joonsunn

      Talk so much, until now iPhone/iPod/iPad cannot even do bluetooth file transfer by DEFAULT. Address that, then come back and attack the android army.

    @joonsunn

    OMG I"M SO TOUCHED BY TEH STEVIE JOBS STORIEEEE…

    Seriously, people like you are spoiling the apples (see what I did there? The proverb? nvm…). Tell me one thing the iPhone does that HTC phones can't. Go read your smartphone history book and come back.

matjoe

i remember ipaq & dopod, one of my boss use them back there.

akupung

lol isheeps wat r they doing crawling over here…shushh

racistmalaysian

Still own iPaq 2210. Was about to buy O2 mini smartphone. Those were the days.

wakaka

why would anyone needs bluetooth file transfer?

get a dropbox, forget about bluetooth, its battery consuming. its not 2007, i can bluetooth file transfer with my nokia, but who does it?

phandroid are just soul less robot. android. sounds like startrek to me.

    @joonsunn

    Who uses bluetooth file transfer? Pretty much everyone else who doesn't use an iPhone. Can you dropbox your photo to a fella using a Nokia 6230? Oh I forgot, that phone has bluetooth.

    iPhone users, ignoring glaring defects since 2007.

wakaka

do you know what is the biggest difference between android and ios?

android= engineer just follow the request of the mass, because they have NO idea at all.

ios= create things that you dunno ppl will need. innovative

ask yourself, do you need coca cola?

henry ford asked, what ppl need? they said they need a faster horse!!!!,
thank goodness he did not listen, if not he wont mass produce the car!!!!!

    Albert Ang

    not making sense.
    let me make more sense

    ios = CULT (based on them restricting so many things e.g bluetooth, flash)
    Android = freedom of choice

    EPIC WIN

Evil Homer

LOL. So if I read Steve Jobs' book an his story touched me then I am obliged to get only his products after that. What kind of logic is that? Talk about being suckered by marketing ploys.

lala

iPhone is good but Android will control the smartphone market of the future because of its accessibility and openness
