Celcom has started registration of interest of the Samsung Galaxy SL. So what’s with the extra L behind? From first look, it looks pretty much the same as the Samsung Galaxy S but there are distinctive differences between the 2. Firstly it uses Super LCD instead of the usual Super AMOLED.

According to Engadget, the processor is different as well as it runs on 1GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor instead of Samsung Hummingbird 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. The battery is of higher capacity at 1650mAh and as a result, it is thicker at 10.59mm vs 9.9mm in the Galaxy S model.

Overall, the Galaxy SL looks like an extended battery edition of the Galaxy S but sacrifices marginally on screen and dimensions. The difference between Super LCD and Super AMOLED should be barely noticable and it is also good to know that the Galaxy SL also comes with its toughen Gorilla Glass. From the Celcom’s Galaxy SL spec sheet page, it runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and comes with 16GB 4GB of internal storage. There is also another variant of the Galaxy SL destined for Asian markets like Malaysia where the internal storage drops to 4GB rather than 16GB presumably in a bit to reduce cost further.

Thanks to rakyat biru for the heads up!

Is it comes with 16GB or 4GB of internal storage? Spec from Celcom website said that it comes with 4GB storage. Which is the true?

You're quite right in pointing that detail out. There are two variants (possibly more, depending on market) of the Samsung Galaxy SL.

As far as we know, European markets get a 16GB version while Asian markets like Malaysia and India get the 4GB version.

So to answer your question, it's 4GB.

[...] Instead of the Super AMOLED screen, we are actually getting the SuperLCD version. The recently announced Samsung Galaxy SL by Celcom is also using Super LCD. You can check out the full specs of the Nexus [...]
