Samsung introduces four new Galaxy phones

Posted:  February 2, 2011   By: ccsoya   2 comments

You can now definitely say that there is a Samsung Galaxy phone for everyone at every price range. Just when we thought that the Galaxy line of mobile phones couldn’t get any bigger, Samsung unleashes not one, not two, but four new Galaxy devices for different segments of the booming smart phone market.

Samsung says the Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Gio and Galaxy Mini “all offer a unique take on the smartphone experience, expanding the Android-powered Samsung GALAXY smartphone line-up to the broader consumer market.”

The Samsung Galaxy family will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress on February 14. No word on pricing or whether there will be availability here in Malaysia but if we know Samsung Malaysia then we know that at least one out of this four Galaxy phones will make it here. Our bet’s on the Galaxy Ace.

If these mid-range Galaxy devices are coming, expect to pay less than RM1,300.

For more details on the four upcoming Galaxy devices head on over to after the jump.

Leaked photos revealed the Retina Display on iPad 2 very unlikely

Posted:  February 2, 2011   By: ccsoya   No comments

As if you need more proof that Retina Display on the iPad 2 is a mathematical improbability at this point in time, 9to5mac brings out what is very likely to be legit pictures of the display panel for the iPad 2 at the same time pounding a nail into the iPad 2 Retina Display rumour.

The picture you see here is what the source claim to be the display panel of the iPad 2′s LCD, fresh off of the assembly lines of China.

Observers report it to be an LG Phillips’ 9.7-inch XGA 1024 x 768 H-IPS panel bearing the part number LP097X02-SLN1. The pane appears to be lighter and somewhat thinner than the one the iPad — 1mm thinner.

You can also see that the bezel is much thinner making it possible to shrink the size of the iPad 2 to some degree.

1024 x 768 is no Retina Display we all know that, but the sighting of the display still beckon questions. Rumour has it that the display on the iPad 2 will feature a state-of-the-art anti-reflective coating to enable better viewing under direct sunlight. Nothing of this nature has been observed in the 9to5mac post, but as always you can expect many more details on the iPad 2 surfacing as we near its unveil date.

Sony Ericsson updates Xperia X10 with pinch to zoom

Posted:  February 2, 2011   By: soyacincau   No comments

It took a while before Sony Ericsson released its Android 2.1 update for its Xperia X10. Even after the update, it still lacks multi-touch and pinch to zoom. Several months ago, Sony Ericsson had revealed that they are working hard in bringing such features to their existing Android line up and now the day is finally here.

According to Sony Ericsson’s Product Blog, a new update is coming to Xperia X10 and Xperia X8 line up. The X10 will be getting its pinch to zoom feature however this is only applicable to Mobile Internet and Google Maps only. There are other improvements for this update which includes an updated Moxier, ability to trim videos on the go, ability to compress high quality videos for MMS delivery and some minor change for Mediascape access.

The X8 however now has ANT+ enabled which is some form of short range communication. Both X8 and X10 also received additional bi-directional languages such as Arabic, Farsi, Thai and Hebrew.

The updates can be updated via PC companion or download over-the-air (OTA). More information on their blog
