You saw the cheeky print ad, now take a look at the two minute long Malaysia Day commercial from DiGi.
It has all the makings of a viral classic. Funny, catchy, chock full of witty catch phrases and backed by a fitting soundtrack.
Another job well done DiGi.
Take a look at the ad after the jump.

This has to be one of the cheekiest ads we’ve seen from a local telco. No surprises that it came from DiGi, creator of the famous Yellow Coverage Fellow.
The DiGi print ad puts a cheeky twist to the 1Malaysia theme with its YGF seen being together and nice with Celcom’s Blue Bear and Maxis’ globe logo.
Also in conjunction with Malaysia Day, DiGi is giving free 100 SMS for prepaid top-ups over RM30 made from 14 to 16 September and 15% off all domestic calls to any network made on Malaysia Day.
Good job DiGi.
We think it’s a really nice ad that bring smiles to our faces and a warm fuzzy “aww” feeling in our hearts.
What do you think of the ad?

This is interesting. When Celcom announces registration of interest for the BlackBerry Torch, we noticed that Maxis quietly hides the device from its website. We thought it was weird for Maxis to pull out but looks like they have re-ignited their interest to offer the BlackBerry Torch by prominently displaying it on the front page.

The registration form is refreshed too. Not wanting to lose out to Celcom‘s goodies for first 100 sign ups, Maxis is throwing in a Bluetooth heatset worth RM250 for the first 500 to sign up and purchase the device. There’s no mention of the brand of the headset and it says while stocks last. We assume they should have 500 units ready and didn’t plucked the number 500 from the sky.
Interested? Head onto Maxis BlackBerry page now.

Hotlink has revised their prepaid data plans again. Last month they introduced 2 bi-weekly internet plans of 100MB and 250MB at RM18 and RM38 respectively.
Today we noticed the 250MB bi-weekly plan has been dropped and they have introduced a new lightweight 5MB weekly plan at RM3/week.

UPDATE: The ad is real but the evil laugh at the end was not part of the original ad. Some dude added that in to make it more funny.
The iPad is obviously a cooler device compared to the Kindle. However as an E-book appliance, the Kindle’s e-ink reigns supreme not only in battery life but also in display.
If you’re looking for something to read outdoors, this is where the Kindle outshines the multimedia rich tablet rivals. Check out the cheeky video after the break.
