UPDATE (20100920) : Maxis iPhone 4 plans for launch leaked. Read about it here.
UPDATE (20100917) : DiGi confirms iPhone 4 stock in Malaysia. To launch week of 20th September 2010. Read about it here.
Ok so the official word is out, DiGi and Maxis have opened registration of interest for the iPhone 4 but little else has been revealed.
We don’t know the pricing, we don’t know the plans and we don’t know when will the iPhone 4 be available in stores.
But we know the industry enough to be able to put out some predictions that’s pretty accurate. Earlier we predicted that pre-order, or more accurately, registration of interest (ROI), will happen after 19 July and it did.
Now that the ROIs are out, we can with some degree of accuracy predict when the in-store dates for the iPhone 4 will be. It will be roughly two weeks from today. If you count the exact days that puts the iPhone 4 launch on 3 August. But we’re going to go slightly conservative on our prediction put the iPhone 4 launch sometime within the week starting 2 August.

UPDATE: Maxis iPhone 4 plans for launch leaked. Read about it here.
Things just got really exciting really quick! As predicted Maxis opened registration of interest around the time we expected they would.
In less than 2 hours after DiGi broke the word that they are now taking registration of interests for the iPhone 4, Maxis followed suit by opening it’s iPhone 4 registration of interest page.
This is all good but the thing is, there’s no indication of pricing Also, registration of interest doesn’t mean you’re locked down with a particular telco. So you’re very free to change telcos depending on whichever makes the iPhone available here first.
Or if you can wait, it’s best to see what both telcos have to offer to get the best deal.
Head on to Maxis’s site here.

Well, well what do you know, DiGi silently with no fuss beat Maxis to the announcement.
Yes people, DiGi is the first telco in Malaysia to offer pre-orders registration of interest for the flawed iPhone 4.
It also turns out that our predictions on the pre-order date is correct but we got the telco completely wrong. We predicted earlier that Maxis will open pre-orders for the iPhone 4 sometime this week. It turns out DiGi quietly beat them to it.
No launch date has been released but if our predictions are true, Malaysians could be officially getting their iPhone 4s early in August. We wonder if DiGi’s move is actually a pre-emptive strike to defuse something that Maxis is planing to announce soon?
We still have a feeling that Maxis will announce something about the iPhone 4 soon.
Head on over to DiGi’s iPhone pre-order page for details

The third instalment of the robots in disguised will not be here for at least another year but that’s not a reason for director Michael Bay to front his iPad 3G on set.
Here you can see him talking to Patrick Dampsey about a scene or something. We assume Bay is using the iPad to go through a storyboard with Dampsey.
Either way, there’s no denying that the iPad is a tremendously flexible device with more and more people finding new ways to use it in increasing cool work environments.

We briefly wrote about the HTC Ace, the codename for the new a new device the company is purportedly working on.
Previously we got wind that the Ace would be a HTC EVO 4G sans WiMAX but this is not confirmed and there are two sides of the story. Another source claims that the HTC Ace is actually a Desire dressed in Droid Incredible clothes destined for European markets.
We’re more inclined to think that the upcoming Ace will be more like the EVO 4G then the Incredible, but it won’t be the EVO 4G exactly.
Why are we saying this? Because we’re seeing postings about an apparent leak of a new flagship device from HTC and that device is condenamed Ace. The “leaked” specs are very similar to what the EVO 4G is sporting right now. That means the Ace will very likely be packing a 4.3in WVGA screen, a 1GHz processor of the Snapdragon kind and an 8MP camera with 720p video.
In addition, the leak revealed that the new HTC flagship device will carry 4GB on board memory and run on FroYo.
In terms of construction, the leak mention that the new device will be constructed from a single billet of Aluminium simillar to the one on the HTC Legend. Launch date is slated in October.
Unfortunately the source has already brought down the post but we have a feeling that there’s some truth in the specs. So, could the HTC Ace actually be a Desire 2?
We can’t confirm at this moment in time but we’ll keep a close watch on developments to give you the latest.

Samsung, the champions for display technology, has developed a film thin AMOLED display that is flexible and — as it appears — seemingly indestructible; a super, super AMOLED of sorts
Sources say that Samsung is looking to have this in mobile phones by 2012.

In the midst of antennagate, two major tech blogs have just gotten their hands on the latest version, albeit still considered as an early build, of the Windows Phone 7.
We warn you, these pre-reviews are very extensive and will take some time to read but the gist of it is fairly simillar.
There is much potential in Windows Phone 7 but there’s also a hell of lot of work to be done. Actually, that’s an understatement. The mobile market is hyper competitive with the iPhone as the player to beat and Android as the strong contender getting a strong foothold in the market. Don’t forget, there’s also BlackBerry and Symbian, not to mention bada all looking at grabbing their piece of the mobile market pie
At it’s debut, Windows Phone 7 will have only one chance to make an impression. They will need to do it right and do it right the first time. When it comes to smartphones, consumers are spoiled for choice and they will not give a lackluster product — both hardware and software — a second look.
The first Windows Phone 7 that’s expected to come late this year doesn’t need to be good, it must be great right out of the box.
Check the pre-reviews from MobileCrunch and Engadget, here and here.
