Blackberry has officially released a promo video of its latest OS – the Blackberry 6 – at WES 2010. And man, is it really something. A thumping soundtrack by Black Eyed Peas and awesome visuals makes this one of the sexiest OS demo videos we have ever seen.
But it doesn’t change the fact that it looks very much like the iPhone OS.
Having said that, we can see that the Blackberry 6 shows tremendous potential and is heading in the right direction. We’ve mentioned before that RIM is trying to get the attention of the more social media friendly crowd with its new line of devices, and the new Blackberry 6 will be a key component of all this.
The Blackberry 6 marks a massive shift in how RIM want to play the smartphone game. We’re really interested to find out what will they bring to the table.

UPDATE: Read our Nokia N8 first impression and watch our hands-on videos here.
Nokia blog today announced the release of the N8 and from the looks of the promo videos, this new device may shape up to be one of the most feature-packed Nokia smartphone we’ve ever seen.
The N8 is Nokia’s first device to feature the new Symbian ^3 platform that supports multitouch as well as pinch zoom. The new OS is looking very polished indeed. Hardware wise, the Nokia N8 packs a 12MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a xenon flash that features the largest sensor ever used in a Nokia device. Nokia claims that sensor is bigger even than those found on many dedicated digital cameras. Nokia is saying that the camera on the N8 will mark the birth of a new breed of camera phones that promises to capture photos and video to rival dedicated point and shoot cameras.

Ok some parents might think this is a bad thing…but we think its just awesome!
CNN reports more and more parents are discovering smartphones’ wonderous ability to engage squirmy kids at restaurants, in the car and anywhere else where youngsters grow bored.
More parents today are handing their smartphones to their kids to keep them entertained. So much so that almost half of the top 100-selling iPhone apps are for preschool or elementary-aged kids

With the police coming into the picture of the stolen/lost iPhone HD/4G saga, things are getting serious. Early speculations of the whole thing being a marketing ploy by Apple is quickly being difussed.
But that’s not stopping Scott Adam’s, the creator of Dilbert, from poking fun at the situation. Answering his readers’ questions on how fast can he whip out a comic and how far in advance does he actually schedule his comics’ publish date, Scott posted two totally unfinished first drafts strips on his blog about the scenario. You will never see these strips in the newspapers.

We’ve always like reading Dilbert’s comics. Sometimes we feel like he’s in the office.

First, we have the youngest iPad user at two years old, now we find the oldest iPad user on the planet. At 99 years of age, one woman in the US says the iPad has changed her life.
The avid reader is unfortunately hard of seeing as she is suffering from glaucoma, which affects her vision and makes it difficult for her to read books.
Enter the iPad to the rescue. The device’s accesibility options and its ability to change fonts and increase screen brightness has given the woman the ability to read again. It has “changed her life,” according to one of her daughters.
Interestingly, the iPad is also the woman’s first computer. She’s even used the device’s virtual keyboard to write limericks, like this one about her new Apple tablet:
To this technology-ninny it’s clear
In my compromised 100th year,
That to read and to write
Are again within sight
Of this Apple iPad pioneer.
Other things the iPad is good at, DJ mixing and running a government.
What will the iPad do next?

Ever wondered how the x-ray image of an iPad looks like?
Well wonder no more.

At the WES 2010, RIM’s co-CEO Mike Lazaridis has just announced that the company’s latest OS – dubbed the Blackberry OS 6 – will be available “in the next calendar quarter,” .
We’ve mentioned earlier that the new OS design appears to be touchscreen friendly and it seems that Engadget can, to some degree, confirm this. When asked whether the new OS will be available on touchscreen devices only, RIM’s answer is that the new OS will be available for both touch and non-touch devices, though.
Answering another question on whether existing Blackberry devices can be upgraded to run on the new OS, Lazaridis indicated that RIM has intentions to make the devices in its portfolio eventually run 6, but not everything in the market today will necessarily be upgradeable — he says that they’ll “do [their] best,” but he’s not making any guarantees.

RIM has just announced the release of two new Blackberry devices – the Blackberry Bold 9650 and the Pearl 9100 3G. Both packing feature sets that are decidedly more social media centric marking RIM’s move to make its line of Blackberry devices more appealing to the social media savvy junior exec who’s more comfortable going to work with a shirt, jeans and sneakers getup rather than a full power suit.
More on the Blackberry Bold 9650 and the Blackberry Pearl 9100 after the jump.
