Apple’s latest iPhone OS – the 4.0 – will be available for download sometime in June. The problem is for most of us June feels like its still a long, long, long way away and there’s really not much we can do other than read up on the experiences of developers playing around with the beta.
If you’re doing the same thing, we recommend you hit up the LINK to iLounge and read a pretty comprehensive breakdown of the new OS.
What’s good about this writeup is that it also details additional improvements other than the seven tentpoles mentioned in the OS 4.0 keynote last week.
Also, if reading is really not your thing, check out a video demo of the iPhone OS 4.0 after the jump.

(Update 0118hrs 15042010) Some people reported problems getting Opera Mini to load any web pages. We got the solution in video HERE.
(Update 1133hrs 13042010) Opera Mini for iPhone is now available for download in Malaysia App Store. Direct link HERE.
We thought that it would never happen but it has.
Opera has just made an official announcement today that the Opera Mini mobile web browser has been approved by Apple for the iPhone and iPod touch and it will be available for free in the App Store within the next 24 hours, depending on where you are.
Opera Mini will be the first alternative web browser for the iPhone and iPod. Currently there over 50 million people using the browser worldwide and we’re amongst them. Using the Opera Mini 5 in our traditional non-touchscreen phones, we have to say, it is a really good mobile web browser. So good in fact that we’re putting ourselves out on a limb in saying that the Opera Mini is even better than Apple’s Mobile Safari.
You know what’s funny? Opera has even setup a countup page to track how long it takes for Apple to approve the app – now that’s positive thinking!
Can’t wait to get our hands on the Opera Mini for iPhone!

Check out this video featuring Microsoft’s Manual Deskterity prototype interface and marvel at its awesomeness!
Manual Deskterity is a prototype digital drafting table that supports both pen and touch input. The combination allows the user to do so much more than pinch zoom.
The pen writes, touch manipulates, and the combination of pen+touch yields new tools like making picture cutouts or stapling stacks of pictures together.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is what the future looks like. Multitouch, eat your heart out!
What’s even more amazing, Microsoft can come up with cool stuff.

Check out the product demo videos of the KIN and the KIN Studio app after the jump!
From what we’re seeing, the device UI is pretty slick with built-in editing features that lets you edit and uploads pictures and videos fairly quickly.
Having all the content of the phone backed up automatically to Microsoft’s cloud is awesome too. Being able to access photos, videos, contacts and more on any computer at any time is something very compelling for us. The KIN Studio web app is quite feature packed and having unlimited storage up in the cloud is great for snap happy Tweeples and Facebookers as well.
The keyboard on both KINs looks good too but we can only imagine how it’s going to feel like and we will only find out how good the camera is once the reviews come in but that’s not our biggest worry.
The biggest problem that we have with the KIN is the lack of an app store and the flexibility for developers to create apps for the device. This seriously limits the device’s adaptability and usability. Essentially, without additional apps to transform it into a do-it-all, the KIN is just a social media device. We don’t even see gaming in the device.
Apps are the next big thing for mobile phones and Microsoft’s move to not allow apps to be developed for KIN could very well be what’s stopping the device from becoming a real must have.
But, it is still be very early days for the KIN. We’ll keep a close eye to see if this no-app approach by Microsoft can work.
(Update 1103hrs 13042010) So much for KIN being a social media device for the social media crowd. Drilling down the features list on the official website, instant messaging is not supported by the device. Not even Window’s own Live Messenger!
The makers of KIN says that the device is more focus on text messaging and making sending text to multiple contacts easy. KIN also makes texy threads look like IM thread, Microsoft says, there is a demand for such a feature. Apparently, the KIN target users “are very focused, on the phone, on text versus IM”

Microsoft today announced KIN, a Windows Phone 7 derivitive based mobile phone that it says is designed specifically for social media addicts. Developed in partnerships with Verizon, Vodafone and Sharp, the new social media phone is designed to be the ultimate social experience that combines mobile phone, online services and PC all in one – sounds like nothing new to us but we would love to get our hands on one of these phones.
Alas, KIN will only available from Verizon in the U.S. beginning in May and from Vodafone in Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom around the second half of the year. No word yet on release dates for other countries and no official pricing has been revealed.

Well that’s another thing iPhone users are going to pound up your watchamacallit when they see this.
Super cute and super talented, this Japanese/Korean, musically inclined techno babe known as Applegirl002 made videos of herself performing pretty impressive covers of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face and Beyonce’s Irreplaceable using nothing but a few iPhones she just happen to have lying around.

Did we tell you that she is super cute?
