If you’re one of those who took up Maxis iPhone 3G and still waiting for an upgrade to happen, expect something coming to your mailbox soon.
Maxis is giving an exclusive offer to iPhone 3G owners to step up to the new iPhone 3GS with a special privilege rebate of RM500. No contract is required so you can keep your existing iPhone 3G and continue whatever contract you’re on.
The catch is that the RM500 rebate is actually a month credit back to your bill over a period of several months. That means you would still need to pay up the full retail price of RM2490 for 16GB and RM2990 for 32GB version.
It is not an upgrade, but a payback discount for a retail priced iPhone 3GS. This offer is exclusive for iPhone 3G owners and you are only entitled if you receive their official letter.

TuneTalk, the latest venture by Tune Group is finally revealed as the Brand New Mobile Prepaid. This is another (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) MVNO which uses Celcom’s wide coverage network.
The key highlights of Tune Talk are:

P1 WiMAX, Malaysia’s leading WiMAX operator has celebrated its first anniversary recently. Exactly 1 year after launch, P1 has acquired over 80,000 subscribers nationwide. It is remarkable to note that P1 currently has covered most states in peninsular Malaysia with Pahang, Perak & Terengganu recently added in the list. In fact, it is the only WiMAX operator to cover more than than 2 states in Malaysia.

DiGi today has revamped its “DiGi Music” service with the Unlimited Music service. For only RM5/month, DiGi customers can download unlimited music to their PC and Mobile phones. Planning to visit Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand or the Philippines soon? You can stay connected with a Unlimited Data Roaming of RM36/day. This is a time limited promotion from now until 28th February 2010 on specific operators below.

Just make sure you’re connected to either Indosat (Indonesia), SMART (Philippines), StarHub (Singapore) and dtac (Thailand) on your next visit to enjoy the unlimited data rate. Even if you don’t use Unlimited, the data rates for the 4 operators are charged at RM12/MB and charges are max capped at 3MB for RM36 for the rest of the day.
More details on Unlimited Data roaming here. For other countries, DiGi offers 1 Data Roaming rate of RM38/MB.
We strongly think these data roaming rates are just too expensive. Alternatively we suggest that you buy a local prepaid with data package for cheaper mobile data connectivity.

Maxis iPhone 3G S has been launched for couple of weeks already and they had been hit with apparent stock shortages. Those interested to get their iPhone 3G S had to place a pre-booking fee of RM200 at any iPhone 3G S roadshows at various malls nationwide. Strangely you can’t pre-book your iPhone 3G S at any dealers and even official Maxis outlets. According to sources, those who pre-book shall get their iPhone 3G S within 2 weeks or latest by end of this month.
Currently the most desirable package in our opinion would be the RM99/month 3GB iData Plan which lets you buy the iPhone 3G S 16GB from as low as RM1690.
Since iValue Plans had been perceived to be less value to those who enjoyed commitment based Value Plus plans, Maxis had made some revision. Now the iValue Plans come with FREE SMS and MMS with its packages. iValue 1 Plan of RM100/month comes with 100 Free SMS and 10 Free MMS per month while the iValue 4 Plan of RM375/month comes with 400 Free SMS and 40 Free MMS. Maxis now also highlights that iValue Plan allows Free local calls and SMS between its supplementary family lines too.
