U Mobile’s Teh Tarik ad that potrays the concept of per second billing has been quite popular when it was launched. Today they have come out with an online contest revolving around the same theme as well. Introducing the U Tarik Champion!

The mission is pretty simple. Just serve Teh Tarik depending on what the customer’s need. The extra rule is that U Mobile customers get 20% extra. So if you see a character with U logo, 20% is given.
However we do find that the 20% extra concept is not accurate in this game. The extra 20% in the game is actually extra 1/5 of the glass, NOT 20% of what the customer ordered. So if a customer asked for 1/5, you would need to pour 2/5 which is 100% more than what the customer asked for. This is an oversight by the organiser and players would be a little confused by the term 20% extra.

The flash game is pretty interesting and the graphics are quite good. There are several levels of difficulty to keep you busy.
Of course, such Tarik skills deserved to be rewarded and U Mobile is giving away Sony PS3s, IPod Nanos and Sony PSPs.
This contest however, is only open to U Mobile subscribers. For those interested, you can order yours online for only RM6.

please can i pay you a real cash.like i give u my number u cut 6ringgit
Hahaha I think Justice 018 must be from U Mobile trying to justify their own failure.
If what he say is true and a full glass is RM100. You top up RM20 and you’ll get RM40 back.
Bakiam, interestingly, u may be one of those few who perhaps are not able to grasp simple explanation on simple mathematical issues.
First of all, putting maths aside, what did u actually mean by paying “real cash”? u mean you actually have “fake cash” besides “real cash”?
And try to get your sentence and grammar right, when addressing issues.
I cant seem to understand what you are trying to say, when u mentioned about giving me your “real cash” and then providing me with your number and asking me to turn it or in your own words “cut” it to RM 6??????
Please do not confuse others as you are. Perhaps you should first read the instructions on the game, and then only proceed with playing the game.
When you were born, u did not just pop out of your mother’s womb and started to run or jump.
You started to crawl, and then walk, and then slowly as time went by, u could run and jump.
Slicker, does it matter if i am from U Mobile or not? Its not about justifying anything, its about making good common sense.
There is a very old ancient saying that goes ” Make sure BRAIN is in GEAR, before engaging MOUTH”
Everyone is pointing fingers and blaming a TELCO which is barely a year old in this business, and u are comparing it with other TELCOs which have been operating for more than 10 years.
If you need to compare, please compare it when the TELCOs i.e MAXIS, CELCOM or whatever just started. Bear in mind one thing… Maxis, Celcom, DIGI, all started with just 2G, and they had more hiccups than any other thing then.
Now you have a new TELCO, which has bravely stepped into this industry and straight away pushed into 3G. Which TELCO do you think would have had the B**LS to try and take a risk?
When you have started to think properly again, then only make your judgement on it. So do you think its fair to compare it otherwise?
@Justice 018, U Mobile may be new but that doesn’t give them the excuse to screw up. If I’m not wrong, U Mobile pioneer team consist of the finest people from Digi, Maxis and Celcom. Now higher management team are from leading telecoms of Korea and Japan! This is the ultimate dream team as far as running telco is concerned. With such experienced people, this is no new born baby. They have learned all the mistakes other telcos have made and surely should know how to run it better.
In real life business, nobody gives a damn if you’re a new born baby or not. Just give us good product and service if you care for customers.
Your claim that U Mobile is daring to step into the industry to 3G directly is nothing spectacular. You tell me which telco is idiot enough to start as 2G when 3G is already a standard now?
I was an early Digi subscriber before when it was called Mutiara Telecom DiGi 1800 back then and I must say that they did much better than U Mobile today.
Digi has started 3G already and I won’t be surprised if they would overtake U Mobile in 3G subscribers.
Slicker, actually it does matter. If you are with umobile, I suspect you are working in billing. As your math is equally bad!!!! Haha
Correction, my message should read “Slicker thinks actually it does matter.”
Slicker, just hear yourself out. Dream Team? have you been watching too much Basketball? What dream team are you talking about? Wake up and smell the coffee my friend.
There is no such thing as the finest or the best when it comes to any new organisation being developed.
come on, even when TV3 just started, by golly they had the ‘Finest’ as you would call it, because their so call experts came from ‘RTM1′ and ‘RTM 2″ . where else could they have come from? there were no ones else in the industry
Was it smoothly flowing for TV3? NO! they had so much of issues, certain areas could not get their channels, interruptions, etc.
Believe me you, because i use to work in that field and i KNOW so.
It took them a good 8 – 10 years to be where they are now. I bet your parents stopped watching RTM1 and RTM2, the minute there was TV3, (of coursed this changed when astro came along)
My point is, here u go BI*TC***G about U Mobile should be this and that because they have this and that. Say, why dont we hire you as CEO, perhaps you could run it better. Can you?
Consumers such as yourself, are pampered easily and feel that the world owes them for their existence. Consumers such as yourself always are pointing fingers at others when they fail to realise that when u point your finger, 3 other fingers are pointing back at you!
If you say that being new and having the “dream team” on their side, shouldnt give them the excuse to screw up. Then who gives, the permission? You ?
should U Mobile seek your approval first before they screw up? And who may you be? The great Prime minister? Grow up ok!
And then you go again, making your assumption, assuming that i may be from U Mobile or better still, now u think i am from Billing. Surprisingly you know the terms of the depts in telcos. Perhaps YOU were formally from U Mobile, and now that YOU are screwed up, and have left or perhaps was asked to leave, and now ur wanting to voice out your frustration at the company.
remember one thing Slicker.. when you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME.
You know if you read what your wrote above, u said which idiot telco would launch 2G when 3 G is already available..well there u go, the Idiot company that you had a line with before.. DIGI.
Whilst everyone was on 3G , your “Idiot” telco was still in EDGE (2.5g)A bit Ironic isnt it? And now that every telco except themselves are or have moved to 3G, this “telco” of yours is now finally moving towards it. Oh yea, and then they could have chicken out, and now decided to go Broadband instead, perhaps they are worried too.
So perhaps YOU are working DIGI. or maybe in the billing dept??? HAHA.
Slicker, actually, the first half of the message was meant for JaguhKampung.
the second half was meant for you, My apology.
Its ok. No heart feeling. But one thing actually is that it took them so bloody long to launch and look at their coverage and product. They have changed 3 CEOs since launch. I think this will go into book of records for fastest ceo turnover for a company. What does that tell you?
Even its flagship product, mobile tv is now cancelled completely. Mobile tv was their killer feature but died just like that. Thats a big failure don’t you think?
For you it is ok to be screwed by telco cos it is a newbie. But for the rest of us we don’t take that nonsense. We simply change to others.
Btw, digi just got their 3g licence recently and they got their 3g service running already. Besides their network was built on 2g previously and are upgrading progressivly. What’s your point?
Slicker,
Point taken. Yes you are right, they would probably make it into the Guiness Book of Records for having the most turnover of C-levels.
Actually, i would disagree just on one part, i have friends in management in DIGI, and well.. lets just say, they had the licence some time back.
Just to formally announced it, it took awhile.
And they were supposed to launch 3G for mobile before the end of 2008, and then it was pushed to the 31st Jan 2009. ANd then again, they pushed it..and out of the blue decided to go with Broadband first.
Perhaps they were thinking that P1 was pushing real hard in their roadshows and promos, that they (digi) were starting to get worried, and decided to launch this quickly.
Dont really know the answer to that, but just a feeling or hunch.
I admit that DIGI probably has the best marketing team around, and yes their ideas in terms orf marketing and their TVCs are fantastic. But then we must understand that these telcos they have their target category, like Maxis is more of corporate, whilst DIGI is more for the young and trendy, and so on.
But at the end of the day, we have to be fair when judging a telco for its service. Honestly speaking, i am not BIAS because i might be working or not for any of the telcos, but its just something that i prefer to be fair when judging not just a telco, but even when judging a person.
We dont just jump to conclusion, right? we always give them a chance, and we hope to see some progress right? well that is how i would judge something or someone.
Well this is just to clear my intentions when i wrote and replied this blog.No pun intended!

Excellent post. I was checking continuously this blog and I’m impressed! Extremely helpful information specifically the last part
I care for such information much. I was looking for this particular information for a very long time. Thank you and best of luck.
Ever see a hot chick from far away but then get up close and realize it's Jonah Hill?
I think the concept that most people are not understanding clearly is quite simple.
Look carefully and read the instructions. The Complete Glass of teh tarik is divided into 5 portions, making each portion = 1/5.
Hence 5/5 = 100%. So any idiot will know that every 1/5 (portion)would represent 20% (20 x5 = 100)
So its clear that if a U Mobile customer ask for 1/5, you would pour 2/5! because thats an extra 20%
How does one calculate it as extra 100%???
I think it makes perfect sense. So i have to disagree with what has been written.Clearly the person who wrote earlier perhaps failed in mathematics subject at an early age.
Please before commenting on something like this, its best to understand the subject first.
SoyaCincau says [0903026] U Mobile is offering 20% top up bonus for its prepaid, hence the concept of giving EXTRA 20% of what is given. If a person tops up RM10, he will get RM12 and if a person tops up RM30, he gets RM36.
As mentioned above, the extra 20% in the game is actually extra 1/5 of the glass, NOT 20% of what the customer ordered.
Are you sure that 20% extra on top of 1/5 is 2/5? You should be the one who needs a refresh of maths.
Calculations and concepts aside, the U Mobile Teh Tarik game could have been easier and less complicated. They try to force feed the 20% extra concept but it wasn’t applied correctly as it should.
