Xiaomi Malaysia has announced the availability of the Mi Max 3 in our local market. It looks like a Redmi Note 5 with massive screen and battery. On top of that, the Chinese brand will also be bringing in the much-anticipated Mi Band 3. You can get these devices with official Xiaomi warranty as early as next week.
Xiaomi has released a couple of flagship smartphones in 2018. There’s the updated Mi MIX 2S, followed by the Mi 8 which comes in 3 different variants. Now they are making top-notch smartphone performance more accessible to the masses with their new flagship killer, the POCOPHONE F1. This new sub-brand device under Xiaomi is hitting the shelves in Malaysia this Thursday, 30 August 2018, and here’s everything you need to know.
If you’ve ever looked at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which is the best smartphone in its class and one of the best bang-for-buck handsets you could buy, and thought “Hey, it’s still not quite worth the money”, there’s good news. Xiaomi Malaysia just dropped the price of their jewel of a budget handset, bringing the entire range below the RM900 mark.
UPDATE: Mi A2 is officially priced from RM999. It will be available in Malaysia from 3 August 2018.
The global launch of Xiaomi’s brand new Mi A2 smartphone was just a couple of days ago, but according to a local grey importer, the device will be available in Malaysia in the next few days. And they’re not talking about an import set.

In just eight years, Xiaomi has built quite the empire for themselves with an extensive collection of smart home devices, smartphones and even lifestyle products. Today, they’re taking another step towards the future as the company just announced that they’ve been successfully listed on the main board of the The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited.
To celebrate this occasion, the company announced a whole bunch of discounts and promotions for some of their most popular products.
What a year it has been so far since the last time we published our best smartphones under RM1,200 (2018 edition). We changed governments in a historic election nobody saw coming, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is now zero-rated and, of course, a whole bunch of brand new affordable smartphones launched.
We thought about a simple update to our original guide, but because so much has changed, we figured it would be a disservice for you to just add the couple of new phones to the end of that one. Instead, we decided that it would be better if we gave the whole guide a proper face-lift, featuring the new updated GST-less budget smartphones, several brand new handsets and a revised Editor’s Choice section.
Here’s our ultimate budget smartphone guide Part 2.
