A few days ago, TM had set up a page where you can check if you’re getting the announced speed upgrade. To recap, existing Unifi customers can get up to 10X faster speeds of up to 800Mbps while Streamyx customers will get 2X faster speeds. Unfortunately, due to high traffic, TM’s website couldn’t cope and many Unifi and Streamyx customers were unable to verify their status.
To address the issue, TM had sent out emails to selected customers to inform them that they are in line to get the speed upgrade. If you haven’t received it yet, you can check your inbox for the subject “Get ready for turbo speed Internet!”
UPDATE: Can’t check? TM will send an email to you instead.
To bring Malaysia’s internet up to speed, TM had announced a free speed upgrade for both Unifi and Streamyx customers. For those on Unifi Fibre Broadband, existing customers will get 10X speed upgrade of up to 800Mbps while Streamyx customers will get 2X faster speeds. To keep its customers informed, TM has released a page when you can check if you qualify for the speed upgrade and when you’re getting it.
TM made a huge announcement today that includes a brand new Unifi Basic plan, Unifi Turbo speed upgrades and new options for Streamyx subscribers. Here’s everything TM announced in one place, a.k.a, your TL;DR.

If you’re a TM Unifi subscriber and have yet to received your “surprise” yet, you’re not alone. According to TM’s deputy CEO Datuk Bazlan Osman, the broadband speed upgrade will be done in phases according to network availability and they aim to double the Internet speeds for all UniFi customers by the end of this year.
Last week, TM revealed the first stage of their ‘Thank You Surprise’. For many UniFi customers, they were able to check if they were eligible for the free speed upgrade that was announced earlier. However, there were some who received a message informing them to check back on the 25th of January instead.
Today is the 25th of January and here’s what you’ll get. Hint: It’s not a speed upgrade.
Remember the 2017 Budget announcement about how everyone was getting broadband speed upgrades? No? You can read up on it here. After that announcement, TM themselves gave us a sneak peak into their master plan to carry out the initiatives set out in the Budget. The gist of it is that everyone should get a speed upgrade without paying extra.
If you were at all excited by that and want to capitalise on these free speed upgrades, this may be your last chance as TM rolls out a brand new UniFi promotion that’s valid from the 1st to the 31st of December 2016. Here’s what you need to know.
