Almost immediately after Android 7.0 is officially rolled out, the folks over at Sony Mobile has published a software upgrade roadmap for its current Xperia devices.
Sony Mobile has launched 3 new devices for the Malaysian market which consists of 2 phones – the selfie-centric Xperia C4 Dual and a mid-range waterproof Xperia M4 Aqua Dual smart phone. The Xperia M4 Aqua will be available starting next week at RM969 while the Xperia C4 Dual will be released in July with pricing to be advised later. Also announced for Malaysia is their Xperia Z4 flagship tablet which runs on the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The Xperia Z4 Tablet with 4G LTE connectivity is priced at RM2,699 and RM3,199 with its accompanying bluetooth keyboard.
The Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia M4 Aqua are water and dust resistant with the highest IP68 rating. This allows it to be submerged in water up to 1.5 deep and up to 30 minutes. Being the latest waterproof devices from Sony, both devices come with a cap-less micro USB port design for a hassle free charging experience.
Sony Mobile is making some noise this week as they will be announcing 3 new devices for the Malaysian market. The first 2 devices are the Xperia C4, a selfie cetric device and the Xperia M4 Aqua, which is a new mid-range waterproof device.
The third model is said to be a long awaited Xperia flagship device and we know many would anticipate the Xperia Z3+, which is the international variant of its Snapdragon 810 powered Xperia Z4 smart phone. However based on the previous teaser and a quick check at SIRIM, the new flagship device is likely to be its Xperia Z4 tablet
Sony Mobile has teased 3 new devices on their home page and it is obvious that their latest Xperia Z4 Tablet will be heading for Malaysia. In the teaser image above, the ultra-thin tablet will be joined with 2 new smart phones that are likely to be the Xperia M4 Aqua and the newly announced selfie-centric Xperia C4.
The Xperia Z4 Tablet and M4 Aqua were announced at MWC 2015. Not only these are the first batch of Xperias to run on Android Lollipop out of the box, but they are also their first waterproof devices that comes with an exposed microUSB port for hassle free charging.
Sony unleashed a slew of give Z-series flagships in the last year alone, so it’s a little strange that they’ve totally forgone showing off a new flagship product but instead has brought in a new full sized tablet. This is the successor of the Xperia Z2 tablet, which was the brand’s last full sized tablet and it brings some upgrades with it.
While Samsung and HTC seems to be grabbing attention ahead of MWC 2015, Sony has finally released a teaser confirming that they would have something to announce as well. The teaser pic shows a new tablet that’s slim, lighter and brighter. From its small blunder, there’s little doubt that this would be its new Xperia Z4 Tablet which would replace its current full sized Xperia Z2 Tablet.
From what we know, the new Xperia Z4 Tablet will be having a 2K/Quad HD display that’s mated with the latest high-end processor and an industry’s longest battery life for a tablet. You can probably expect the latest Snapdragon 810 processor on-board and Sony’s extra-long battery life that was introduced with their current Xperia Z3 smart phone. There’s no Xperia Z4 flagship smart phone this round, which is probably good news for those who prefer a single flagship model per year cycle.
The new Sony tablet would be revealed next Monday as the doors of MWC 2015 official opens. Word has it that a smart phone would be released but it would be its mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua.
