UPDATE: It’s now available on Malaysian units. Just make sure you’re on the latest software update.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ were the first Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphones to feature landscape mode for its home screen and app drawer. This gave the devices a tablet-like experience, making it convenient to navigate thru the interface while you’re holding it in landscape. Now it appears that Samsung is extending this landscape feature to last year’s flagships.
Samsung had started rolling out its Android 8.0 Oreo update for Galaxy S8/S8+ users just before Chinese New Year. Unfortunately, they had to suspend it the next day due to some issues affecting some users.
For those who didn’t hit the download button on time, Samsung has finally resumed its software update roll out and it should reach Malaysian units very soon.
A couple of days ago, Samsung had started to roll out its long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8/S8+. Most users that have downloaded the update as soon as they got notified should be enjoying the latest Samsung design tweaks and the new February 2018 security updates. Unfortunately, for those who didn’t hit the download button on time, Samsung appears to have suspended its software update rollout since yesterday.
UPDATE: The Android Oreo update is now available for Samsung Malaysia units.

Love it or hate it, Samsung’s Bixby assistant is still here to stay. The extra button found on the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note8 makes it easier to trigger Bixby but there are those who find it annoying as it is often mistaken for the volume down button.
For those who don’t want to use this feature, Samsung has finally released an official solution. You can finally disable the one press Bixby key after receiving a software update.
This post is brought to you by PETRONAS
PETRONAS is the first oil and gas company in Malaysia to support Samsung Pay at more than 1,000 stations nationwide. It offers greater cashless convenience as you can shop and pay for fuel with only your smartphone.
To celebrate the occasion, PETRONAS is giving away several prizes including a brand new Samsung Galaxy S8 (worth RM3,299) every week until 3 September 2017. It’s super easy to be in the running.
If you’re thinking of getting one from a telco, this is probably the least appealing of them all.
