The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 packs a massive 3,200mAh battery and for those looking for double battery life, there’s the Mugen Power Extended Battery with 6,500mAh capacity. If that’s still not enough, another battery maker by the name ZeroLemon has introduced an even bigger battery for the Galaxy Note 3 with a massive 10,000mAh capacity.
Like other extended batteries, ZeroLemon also offers a custom casing for it. Instead of using typical plastic, the custom case is more rugged with a 3 layer rubberised design that even includes a belt clip holster which doubles up as a kickstand. For added protection, the case also comes with protective rubber flaps covering the USB and S-Pen silo.
Despite adding more bulk to the smart phone profile, the 10,000mAh battery supports NFC for S-Beam functionality. With frugal use, this might just last close to a week for moderate users.
Like its name suggests, Zero Lemon promises 100% Zero Defect and the battery is covered by a 180 days warranty. The Extended Battery pack is going for US$59.99 on Amazon and costs about US$15.00 to ship to Malaysia.
Head after the break for more images of the massive extended battery and case.
Update: We’ve just got an update from @chairilhafizz via Twitter who has a friend at Low Yat PLaza. Apparently Samsung is offering a rebate for up to RM900 when you trade up to the Galaxy Note 3 from a Note II and the offer is limited to 50 units per day.
Samsung Malaysia is organising a Galaxy Note 3 trade up program at Low Yat Plaza this week. If you own a Galaxy Note II then you can trade it up for a Galaxy Note III at the event. Details about the event is scarce and Galaxy Note 3 available for the trade up offer is limited so your best bet is to head over to Low Yat Plaza yourself. The event is happening at Low Yat Plaza Centre Court from October 21 to 27. If you happen to be there, hit us up on Twitter with the latest updates. We’ll be more than happy to share them here.
In the meantime, here’s our Galaxy Note 3 unboxing video.

UPDATE: Telco comparison updated to reflect Maxis‘s 12 months & SurfMore 50 option for Galaxy Note 3 bundling.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is officially available in Malaysia today with the retail price of RM2,399. The unit which we are getting is the 4G LTE version with 32GB of on-board storage. Those looking forward to get one today on contract will have a choice of 4 telcos to choose from – Celcom, DiGi, Maxis & U Mobile. To make it easier to decide which telco and plans to go for, we’ve compiled a reference comparison of each plan offering as well as minimum cost of ownership inclusive of subscription and device cost.
Contract duration wise, all telcos are offering 24 month duration with the exception of Celcom which also offers 12 month and 18 month options. If you’re looking for the cheapest device pricing on contract, U Mobile is currently the lowest at RM999 which is meant for eligible Loyal customers that sign up with their Ultimate Device 158 plan. However when it comes to total minimum cost of ownership, the lowest cost definitely goes to Celcom’s First Prime + 1GB bolt-on internet plan with a contract period of just 12 months. Of course, the only caveat is that the minimum cost is calculated based on usage within its allocated data, calls & sms quota without incurring excess usage.
Head after the break for the full telco comparison for the Galaxy Note 3.
UPDATE: Check out the comparison of telco plans offering the Galaxy Note 3.
For those wanting to get the Galaxy Note 3 with shorter contract duration, now Celcom has added 12 and 18 months option on top of their current 24 months offering. The Galaxy Note 3 can be yours as low as RM1,748 for 18 months period and RM1,888 for 12 months.
For these 2 shorter contracts, you have a choice of the 3 Celcom First voice postpaid plans and an option for either 1GB or 3GB bolt-on mobile internet. The advance payment is lower as well and ranges between RM250-450 depending on plan.
Watch this space as we will be doing a round of telco plan and pricing comparison for easy reference. In the mean time, don’t forget to check out our Galaxy Note 3 unboxing video here.
For more information head over to Celcom’s Galaxy Note 3 page.
The Galaxy Note 3 is a marked improvement over its predecessor. For starters the Note 3 is slimmer, lighter and faster than the Note 2. Among large format smartphones, the Note 3 is packed with the latest of everything — the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor is top of the line, the 13MP camera shoots 4K videos, its Cat4 LTE radio is capable of download speeds up to 150Mbps and 50Mbps uploads. The 3GB RAM is an industry first as is the micro USB 3.0 port that provides faster data transfers and charging, and its 5.7-inch 1080p full HD super AMOLED display has a pixel density of 386ppi is over 120ppi more than the Note 2 (265ppi)
But has the Note 3 moved the innovation needle? Hardly.
The build quality is as plastic as any cheap made in China device. This is sad considering that the Note 3, like most if not all Samsung devices, is made in Korea. The leather textured back cover promises a premium feel but in reality, the Note 3 is unapologetically, unapologetically plastic and the leather texture does nothing to improve the tactile feel of the device.
In terms of hardware design, the Note 3 doesn’t deviate much from the Samsung template. Next to devices that boast hardware features like dual-front speakers with dedicated amplifiers or a fully water-proof design, the Note 3 looks decidedly plain. Basically, the Note 3 doesn’t feel or look special.
So do we recommend it?
