When redONE introduced its prepaid plan last year, it offered a long 30 days validity period with a RM10 top up. With more prepaid plans in the market offering more data, redONE has revamped its offering that now offers as much as 19.5GB of high-speed 4G LTE data for RM50/month. That’s almost double of what you get on other prepaid.
If you’re a red ONE postpaid customer that makes a lot of voice calls, here’s a new add-on for you. For a limited time, they are offering a redCALL add-on which gives you unlimited voice calls to all networks in Malaysia for only RM10/month.
Not wanting to be left out, redONE has introduced its new Amazing plans that come with more data than before. The MVNO known for its barebones offering is now providing up to 20GB of data with free calls for under RM50/month.
However, if you take a closer look, the data offering might not be as amazing as you think.
redONE is no longer just a postpaid MVNO as they have introduced its new prepaid plan. Similar to its barebones postpaid offering, the new redONE prepaid comes with unlimited voice calls to all redONE Prepaid users and it comes with 500MB of free data each month. Unlike most mainstream prepaid plans, you can keep your line active for 30 days with just a RM10 top up.
UPDATE: After contacting red ONE, they clarified that the Data8 postpaid plan has no limited data bundles. That means, once you’ve purchased a data bundle, your data usage is unlimited and will only be throttled once you’ve depleted the quota.
One big problem with that price war is that these postpaid plans all hover around the RM70-RM80 mark which isn’t an insignificant amount to pay for a plan. What if you want something basic that won’t burn a hole in your pocket?
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has been slaving away tinkering and adjusting the scale of the annual Budget announcement. Being hard hit by drops in oil trade prices due to an excess of supply and micromanaging the qualms of 1MDB, our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has a lot on his hands – if that wasn’t clear enough. But will the ICT market win or lose when Budget 2016 is read?

red ONE has emerged as Frost & Sullivan Malaysia’s MVNO operator of the year for 2014. Out of the 15 MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) in the country, red ONE is the only postpaid operator and they stood out as the fastest growing operator with over 200,000 subscribers to date.
For those who are new to red ONE, they were previously under RedTone. Just recently, they had undergone extensive management restructure and branding exercise which now offers something different for personal and business users. While other popular MVNOs like TuneTalk are on the prepaid model, red ONE goes against the grain with a postpaid offering that starts from just RM8/month. This makes it the most affordable postpaid plan in Malaysia and it is even offering free calls within their own network.
