Klang Valley Water Disruption: Here’s how you can locate your nearest backup water supply

Starting tomorrow, Klang Valley residents will experience water supply disruption as SYABAS will be undergoing water supply system works at the Sungai Selangor Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant (SSP2 WTP). Although the estimated repair time is 14 hours (between 9AM to 11PM), the water recovery process will take much longer. Klang Valley residents in 577 areas will face water supply disruption from 9AM on the 24th April until Saturday, 27th April 2019.

If you’re still unsure if you’re affected, you can search for your address with MalaysiaKini’s Water Disruption search tool over here. If you can’t get results for your street name, you can try searching using the name of your “Taman” or area. The result page will also display your nearest Local Service Centre where you can get water supply starting from 26th April 2019.

Water supply is expected to be restored as early as 11AM on 26th April 2019 but in some areas, it might take longer as the disruption could end as late as 11PM on 27th April 2019. If there is a critical need for water, you can submit a request by sending an SMS with the message “TANKER <NAME><ADDRESS>” to 15300 or you can send a WhatsApp to 019-281 6793 or 019-280 0919.

In preparation for the water disruption, Air Selangor will deploy 82 water tankers and 17 jumbo tankers throughout the interruption period with priority for emergency and critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres. There will be 10 Local Service Centres which will be activated from 8AM on 26th April 2019. Additional 106 static tanks will be placed at critical and strategic locations in addition to the provision of 9 public water tap locations.

In the meantime, Klang Valley folks are advised to stock up as much water as possible and to minimise wastage during the disruption. Air Selangor says they are committed to undertake the improvement works as scheduled and they will expedite the water supply restoration.
