These are ASUS’ new ZenFone 4 smartphones

If you’ve been following our Facebook page, you may have caught a post about the interesting invite we received to check out ASUS‘ brand new line of smartphones, the ASUS ZenFone 4. Well, it looks like we’re all getting a little sneak peak before the official launch because three of ASUS’ upcoming devices have just been leaked in full.

Here are the details.

ASUS ZenFone 4

First we’ve got the ZenFone 4. Much like last year’s ZenFone 3 lineup, this is sort of like the core of the lineup, though, as things are right now it also looks like there won’t be a whole tonne of similarities between the ZenFone 4 smartphones.

In any case, the ZenFone 4 looks to continue the classic ASUS look that began with the ZenFone 3. This means the phone is rounded, glossy and sports the company’s concentric circle design. One thing you may have noticed has changed is at the fingerprint sensor is no longer at the back of the smartphone because it has moved to the front.

We’ve already seen the back of the ZenFone 4 when the company announced that Gong Yoo would be their brand ambassador, and not much has changed since then. You still have the dual cameras at the top left of the smartphone — ala honor 8 — and the ASUS logo in the middle.

For its dual-camera 12MP+8MP setup, ASUS went down the wide-angle approach as one camera shoots wide while the other shoots in a more standard focal length — think LG G6.

In front, you’ve got a 5.5-inch Full HD OLED display that’s surrounded by what looks like marginally smaller bezels than its predecessor, though it is hard to tell from product renders. Inside, it’ll allegedly sport two processor models — a Snapdragon 630 or a Snapdragon 660 chip — paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Keeping the device powered is a 3,300 mAh battery.

Reports indicate that ASUS France briefly listed the ZenFone 4 for EUR499 (around RM2,521) though it wasn’t specified for which model. Keep in mind also that European prices tend to be higher.

ASUS ZenFone Selfie and Selfie Pro

Next we’ve got the return of the Selfie brand on an ASUS device. As its name would suggest, the Selfie versions of these phones are usually all about that front camera and this time it’s no different. Rather, I should say it is a little different because we’re talking about selfie cameras, plural.

In front, the ZenFone 4 Selfie will feature a dual-lens 20MP + 8MP camera combo in front with an LED flash. On the other hand, there will also be a ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro that changes things to a 24MP + 5MP dual-camera setup in front instead. Details on what the cameras will actually be for remains unclear.

Besides that, the ZenFone 4 Selfie will feature a Snapdragon 430 processor while the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro will come with a Snapdragon 625 chip instead. Both will have a 5.5-inch OLED display (though resolutions vary between FHD for the Pro and HD for the regular version), 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a 3,000 mAh battery.

One other interesting thing to note is that the Selfie line of phones look to sport a full-metal svelte body that’s very reminiscent of something from OPPO. This does make sense since OPPO’s the king in the selfie-centric mid-ranger smartphone segment.

The ZenFone 4 Selfie will allegedly be priced at EUR299 (around RM1,511) while the Pro variant will be priced at EUR399 (around RM2,016). Again, keep in mind that European prices tend to be higher.
