One day before Computex 2016 kicks off, ASUS announced three brand new smartphones to add to their ZenFone lineup, the ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra.

Kicking things off is the new ASUS Zenfone 3. This base model ZenFone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a Snapdragon 625 processor mated with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the ZenFone 3 will come with a 16-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 3,000 mAh battery that will charge via USB Type C. It’s also got a fingerprint reader mounted on the back.

ASUS’ ZenFone 3 will retail at USD249 (around RM1,024).

Next, we have the new flagship-level smartphone from ASUS, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. Inside the 5.7-inch smartphone with a Full HD SuperAMOLED display sits a flagship-level Snapdragon 820 processor mated to a whopping 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS2.0 internal storage. Those are some monstrous specifications even by flagship smartphone standards.

When it comes to camera optics, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe will get a 23-megapixel primary camera with ASUS’ PixelMaster 3.0 technology which is designed to take low light shots. It’s also assisted by a combination of a laser autofocus system and PDAF for focusing speeds of only 0.3 seconds. The camera is protected by a Sapphire Crystal glass.

This smartphone also comes with an ultra-thin 1.3mm bezel with a large 79% screen-to-body ratio and a think 4.2mm edge profile.

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be priced at USD499 (around RM2,052).

Rounding up the trio is the massive ZenFone 3 Ultra phablet. Coming in at 6.8 inches, the ZenFone 3 Ultra has a 1080p Full HD display, a 23-megapixel camera, a large 4,600 mAh battery with support for quick-charge 3.0 and a Powerbank Mode.

Inside, it’s powered by a Snapdragon 652 processor with up to 4GB of RAM. Designed to be a media/entertainment hybrid device between a tablet and a phone, the ZenFone 3 Ultra comes with dual-stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, and DTS headphones.

This smartphone will be priced at USD479 (around RM1,970).

Derek Law

the deluxe should only be 5.5 inch and 64 GB storage is adequate

Price can be reduced to USD400 and even rival xiaomi mi5, OP3, etc

the problem is the thing that cost more probably the CPU

remember how cheap the 2 previous generation of Zenfone when they were launched?

and the flagship should have all the bell and whistle, since it's THE flagship model itself

my jaws dropped looking at Asus ZF3Deluxe Specs …. suddenly Asus is in direct fight with the big boys and probably winning few rounds …..

Yeah, I was considering the deluxe too. might be my next or op3

There is a typo, USD249 instead of USD279.

Hi, thanks for pointing that out! I converted USD249 to RM, but I typed USD279 in the text. Sorry about that!

Yes! Asus bring same shock like last year, now with 6GB RAM 128GB Storage. If the camera quality better or above average Asus will received good demand! I think Asus will also come later with cheaper Deluxe model may be with 6GB RAM & 64GB storage or higher Deluxe model with 2K display or edge display. We wait & see!

How about a 5.1inch under rm1k to killoff the s7 and p9.

IMHO…..Zenfone 3 deluxe is launched with 5.7 inch primarily to kill competitors within 5.5-5.8inch (read s7 edge, axon 7, iphone 6s+, note 5/6, 1+3, P9)… gonna be an interesting to see how things unfold. Competitors with smaller screens i.e. htc10, s7, mi5 etc will be collateral damage should consumer start thinking of shifting to slightly larger screen within same price bucket.

6.8" is overkill IMO

should be like this;

the entry flagship; 5.0" – 5.3"

the flagship itself; 5.5" – 5.7"

the phablet flagship; 6.0" – "6.4"

regarding the prices, it's a given since Asus ditch Intel Atom in favour of more expensive and powerful qualcomm

Cup of Joe

The screen size for the ultra is perfect for those, like me, that use it as an entertainment instrument first, camera second, and phone third. I have been begging for a phone like this for years and it is finally going to happen! I just hope it is sold in the USA soon.
