After introducing the HTC Desire Eye last week, HTC has refreshed its One M8 flagship with an Eye variant. The HTC One M8 Eye is similar with its metal clad premium flagship but gets a 13MP Duo Camera at the back instead of its Duo Ultrapixel camera that shoots with an effective 4MP resolution. In a nutshell, it is a One M8 with cameras taken from the HTC Butterfly 2.
While it wasn’t announced officially during HTC’s Double Exposure event, the One M8 eye is now available for orders in China at 3,999 CNY (about RM2,219) with stocks expected to arrive on 15th October. Also included is the latest EYE Experience from the Desire Eye where it gets new imaging capabilities such as dual capture mode, auto face tracking for video conferencing and various selfie-centric assist features.
On the Chinese product page, the rear 13MP shooter is capable of shooting 3D stereoscopic photographs which reminds us of its former HTC Evo 3D. Meanwhile the front retains the same 5MP camera as the original One M8. The rest of the specs are the same with a 5″ Full HD display, 2.5GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage along with a 2,600mAh capacity battery.
Like the HTC One E8, the One M8 Eye could be making its way internationally as the device appears to be heading to India as well. So now they have the HTC One M8, the One E8, Butterfly 2 and now the One M8 Eye with similar hardware and the only differentiation is the choice of cameras.
