For smoother long distance trip during the upcoming Chinese New Year break, motorists taking the North South Highway (PLUS) are advised to follow the Travel Time Advisory. The highway operator is expecting a 25% increase of vehicles with an estimated 1.5 million cars per day during the festive season.
Generally those who are heading south before CNY are advised to enter the highway as early as 6AM to 1PM while those going up north are advised to depart from 1PM onwards. You can check out the detailed travel advisory from PLUS after the break.
To get the latest updates, they have also launched a Plus Expressway Mobile app which gives you live traffic info, alerts, highway video feeds and R&R stop information.
Another useful app to download is Waze which gives user generated traffic info and alerts on what’s happening on the road. It is available on Android, iOS and most recently Windows Phone platform. For Hotlink users without data, there’s a Waze only add-on plan for just RM1/day.
