Enjoy Matrix bullet time scenes? Qualcomm has done just that with its rather cool bullet time smart phone photo booth. They took 130 units of HTC One mounted on a spiral rig which enables a 360 degree photos taken for that slo-mo panning effect. All of this is done to showcase the power of the Snapdragon processor which the HTC One is running on a Snapdragon 600 quad-core unit clocked at 1.7GHz. Somehow we don’t see how this demonstrates its full processing power since it only takes 1 photo per device.

HTC has hinted in an interview with Financial Times that they are working on a new tablet and a wearable gadget. While the Taiwanese maker is having some issues financially, they have been making a strong presence this year with their aluminium clad HTC One.
HTC’s venture into tablets was a short lived with the 7″ HTC Flyer launched in Malaysia at a hefty RM2,499 and a 10 incher Jetstream which was only available in the US. Before Android 3.0 Honeycomb was introduced, Android tablets we’re merely large screen smart phones without true tablet functionality however it is commendable that HTC has managed to bring some form of differentiation with its HTC Scribe Pen and custom UI. Today, the Android tablet category is dominated by the likes of Samsung and ASUS.
For its next tablet, HTC is promising something nice and disruptive but without revealing much of its upcoming platform or features. With HTC being an OEM partner of Microsoft, it may be possible that a Surface like tablet is in the works.
On the smart watch, Peter Chou has mentioned that they had worked with Microsoft before but it never made it as a final product. In recognising the importance of wearable gadgets, he also added that they won’t come out with a version one product, with a slight hint at the Galaxy Gear Watch.
With the success of the HTC One and its first attempt with the HTC Tablet, we have confidence with the Taiwanese maker in coming out with something impressive. For now it is all talk and hopefully they would deliver a compelling product.

If you think the current Nokia Lumias are lacking in processing power and display, they are closing the gap with its upcoming Lumia 1520. Being a photography focused device, the Lumia 1520 is said to be running on a faster Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM and a Full HD 6″ display that does 1920×1080 pixels resolution. That gives a pixel density of 367ppi which is a slight notch below the HTC One Max‘s 5.9″ Full HD display with 373ppi.
In the camera department, it won’t carry the epic 41MP shooter found on the Lumia 1020 but instead it uses a 20.7MP PureView camera. In our earlier camera comparison test, the Lumia 1020 just blows the competition out of the water and hopefully the Lumia 1520 would not disappoint.
Storage wise, it will be available in either 16GB/32GB and it is said to come with Qi wireless charging cover as well. Just like the Lumia 1020, it will be available in Black, White & striking yellow. In terms of pricing, it is leaked in China at a purported 4,999 Yuan which is about RM2,587 when converted directly. Nokia’s big event is happening tomorrow and their first tablet the Lumia 2520 is expected to be unveiled as well.
