UPDATE: Added details of Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL 4G LTE bundling plans. Thanks bertjit for the heads up!
Maxis being the first to offer 4G LTE service in Malaysia has finally announced its 4G LTE smart phone bundling. Initially Maxis 4G LTE was only launched with its Wireless Broadband service offering. There are 2 devices being offered – Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL which both supports 2600MHz frequency.
The 4.5″ Nokia Lumia 920 is offered as low as RM1,099 while the 4.7″ HTC One XL will be offered from as low as RM1,199. Both devices will be tied with either Maxis SurfMore 75 or TalkMore 78 with 3GB bolt on data plan. The HTC One XL looks identical with its One X sibling but instead it runs on dual-core Qualcomm Krait processor as opposed to the One X’s Quad Core Tegra 3 processor. The devices will be available at Maxis centres at KLCC and TTDI.
In terms of speeds, Maxis 4G LTE offers up to 75Mbps with average speeds hovering around 10-30Mbps. Currently its 4G LTE coverage is limited to Klang Valley including areas such as TTDI, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Putrajaya with more areas to be covered soon.
Head after the break for the Smart Phone bundling options available.

The Sony Xperia Z is expected to arrive here next month but we’re lucky enough to get our hands on one ahead of launch. To recap, the Sony Xperia Z is their latest flagship model spotting a high density 5″ Full HD display, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 13MP Camera and a slim yet water/dust resistant body.
While waiting for a hands-on review, feel free to drop us any question or anything you would like to know about the Xperia Z. Alternatively you can tweet to us at @soya_cincau. We will try to best to answer them as soon as possible.
To recap on the specs, the HTC Butterfly comes with a Full HD 5″ display with a Quad-Core 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and f/2.0 8MP camera.
On first impression, the Butterfly is lighter than its looks and somewhat doesn’t feel any bigger than the HTC One X. The unit which we have is red in colour that comes with a rather glossy plastic back. Not really a fan of glossy surfaces especially plastic but it still feels very well put together.
While we don’t get LTE connectivity, the HTC Butterfly that we get here comes with microSD expansion slot. It also comes with some form of water resistance but it is more of splash proof rather than a phone which you can submerge into water. So far the only annoyance we found is the micro-SIM slot that’s covered under the flush flaps. The metal tray is inserted pretty deep which takes quite some prying with long fingernails to get it out.

After announcing the arrival of Sony Xperia Z for Singapore yesterday, we finally gotten good news of our own. Sony Malaysia has finally sent a teaser to save the date for March 6th which is about a month away. Actual availability at the stores would be expected soon right after.
If you’re looking for a high end Android device that has the looks with water/dust resistance capability, the Sony Xperia Z is certainly a device worth checking out. So far no word on pricing yet but Singapore has priced it at S$988 which is about RM2,470. Let’s hope for more sensible pricing once it gets here.
To recap on the specs, the Xperia Z has a 5″ Full HD display that’s mated with a Quad-Core Qualcomm S4 Pro 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. In the camera section, the camera boast a new 13MP shooter which also shoots video in HDR mode. 3 colours are available – Black, White and Purple which looks rather gorgeous. So far no word on the availability of its smaller non-water resistant Xperia ZL sibling.
