Update: Samsung — global — pointed out that its country office in the Philippines jumped the gun with the ICS update announcement. There will be no ICS update for the Galaxy S II this Saturday. Full details here.
Samsung Philippines has announced the availability of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S II and it is coming this Saturday 10th of March. There’s no mention of other countries but it is likely that we could be getting it around the same time as well.
The upgrade is only available for the Exynos model (GT-i9000) and can be done through KIES 2.0 or over the air with WiFi. The new features include Face Unlock, Android Beam, Mobile Network Data usage, improved multi-tasking and apps. You’ll need 60MB free space on the device if you’re upgrading with KIES or 350MB if you’re upgrading over the air. The beta version of the update was earlier leaked and you can check out the video to find out how it would look like.
